I used Eric Olschwanger and could not have been happier. I could rave and rave and rave about him!! He specializes in custom work (designing from scratch) and jewelry makeovers (taking an old piece of jewelry and making something new out of it) but he's fabulous at everything. http://www.olschwangerdesigns.com/
Also, I've seen Miss Damask's ring and her hubby's ring and they're both stunning!

They custom made my ring and do other services. Lance and his wife own the place. Very down to earth..tell him exactly what you're worried about and he'll probably let you watch!
Also, if you have your diamond certified take it to a third party apprasier after and make sure it is still the diamond that matches your certificate. That would scare the crap out of me too! I knew some one who worked for a jeweler here in Dallas. He told me what went on. When they would polish people's gold, they'd take extra scraps and melt them down. Then they'd sell the gold. Not cool!
My parents suggested Jalin Jeweler's in Plano, TX. They've worked with them for many years and have had nothing but good things to say. My SO bought my engagement ring from them as well.

I'm looking for a reputable, reliable jeweler in the DFW area. I just need some ring repair and some cleaning, and want to find a jeweler I can trust!
I watched a 20/20 episode with my mom years ago and it's stuck in my head ever since -- I have visions of someone taking my ring in the back and stealing my diamond! :)
