We’re inviting about 350 guests with 50 of them from other states/countries. I am unsure how many rooms to reserve at the hotel. I know some guests from in town may want to stay at the hotel with everyone too since it’s close to the venue and many live 1+ hours away. Should I reserve extra in case more people want to stay, or just a few in case people can’t come/don’t want to stay? I’m also trying to decide if I should reserve them for Friday & Saturday night or just Saturday. Any advice? Thanks!

We reserved way more than we needed for Friday and Saturday nights. We saved 50 rooms total across 3 hotels for 80 out of town guests. We used about 20. The hotels did not require a guarantee or deposit so there was no reason not to reserve more than we needed!

We invited 100 guests and about half (52) of them are coming from out of town. We reserved 30 rooms at 2 different hotels at different price points, 25 regular rooms and 5 suites. A few of our in town guests are planning to stay at the hotel and some of our out of towners are going to share rooms or will stay with mutual friends who live in the area so I think 30 will be fine for us.
Our wedding is on a Saturday afternoon and we reserved the rooms for both Friday and Saturday night since a lot of our out of towners are flying in for the wedding and will get to town on Friday. From my understanding, guests can book with the group rate for both Fri and Sat or for just one night.

@MrsN14: I work in sales at our Hilton in town, so I handle big blocks. I would probably ask the sales director how many rooms they would advise you reserve. You will probably be required to have them all reserved at least 2 weeks before the wedding, so the hotel would much rather know for sure than guessing.

The hotel will advise you and more then enough is better. they will give you a cutoff date for people to book the rooms by and then after that date they will be released back for the public.
