My fiance and I just got engaged last week and her ring is a little loose. She’s a size 4, but the thing is, if we make it any smaller it probably won’t fit over her knuckle. Also, I’ve read that fingers tend to swell a bit in the warmer months…and since it’s January now, maybe we shouldn’t downsize it just yet.
I’ve been googling the problem for a while now but can’t reach a conclusion. Should we hold off for a few months, or get those little beads installed that help hold the ring in place? What do y’all think? Thanks in advance for your help!

mine needs to be resize too. I have the same large knuckle issue anisn’t really sucks bc the ring will always be too big. I’m a 4.5 at the smallest part but my ring will have to be a size 5 to fit over my knuckle.
i was told that on such small fingers beads wouldn’t help much as they are better on more fleshy fingers. I went to a store to try on a smaller size just to see what would fit. A 5 is it. It will be hard to take off but I keep smack my diamonds on things since my ring turns so I have no choice.
Ypou could get her a smaller band and she could wear it on the outside to keep the e-ring on. Or you can have a hinge out on the e-ring so it opens up but I guess that is kind if expensive.

Most jewelers can size in quarter sizes (0.25 increments) but since she just got it I would wait until the weather is warmer so she can see how much her fingers swell.
I personally hate tight rings so mine are sized at least a quarter size too big to allow for the summer heat and humidity. It stinks this time of year because they spin and topple over, but in the summer I don’t have that problem.

I would try the beads.. I have them on mine and don’t have fleshy fingers… It helps from keeping the ring from spinning.. I’d try the beads and then if that doesn’t work size it down a quarter… Good Luck 🙂

@Dragonfly22ny: that’s great to hear! I was told that by a couple of jewlers but if its not true i may try that! My ring is top heavy in addition to being too large so anything that would help the spinning would be great!

I’m a size 4 to get over my knuckle (and it’s a struggle) but in the winter I could definitely be a size 3.5 once it’s already on. I’m waiting until the summer to see how I feel. Right now I just jam it up higher to help it stop spinning. I’m worried that with summer swelling I won’t be able to get it off if I had the sizing balls added. When I do hot yoga the ring does seem to fit much better. I’d wait for now.

@Dragonfly22ny: how do those beads feel? Do they bother u at all?

@kryssbride: Beads don’t bother me.. Felt a lil odd at firs and now I barely remember they are there.. The other thing is if you don’t like them they can take them off. And they shoud be small beads – when I first got the ring it was big and they put larger beads.. My ring was still moving so they had to resize almost half a size down and then I got small beads because of the spinning.

@Chrissy26: Definitely give it a shot – It is so annoying when the diamond is facing your palm and you have to keep adjusting it all day.

I would hold off on resizing the ring until after the warmer months. Also don’t forget that when she adds her wedding band the added width could make it feel tigheter.
