There are a bunch of calculators and cost estimators on the web for how much a baby sill cost in the first year. I found this one pretty helpful.  http://www.babycenter.com/baby-cost-calculator 

Also a lot of the costs can be mitigated, if you have older siblings or friends with children they will likely be able to give you things like a basinet or a carrier their child has grown out of. If you are using cloth diapers and washing them your self it will be cheaper than using only disposables etc. Also remember when looking at baby clothes/items/furniture that there will be a baby shower so you won’t have to purchase everything at department store prices. Just some things to think about
