We stumbled onto a few when we did our 'shopping.' I too wanted something kind of unique and while there's a larger selection I was still kind of un-impressed. I found a setting I ADORED in a store and I kept going to the re-styling events hoping to find one similar but cheaper... and I felt like all the rings were no where near as good and more expensive! They tend to be a bit pushier too because it's a "one day" thing...
There are a lot more options though!
I went to one to reset another gemstone ring that I had. It was really fun - they had tons of settings to choose from. I didn't feel pressured to buy, but I also wasn't looking for THE ring...just A ring. It can't hurt to go look. If you simply don't find what you like, no biggie. And if you do, then great!

KLP & MrsK - Did you see anything that was a casted setting? They don't have prongs, they are fixed to fit one diamond. I'm not a fan of prongs, (which makes it super difficult!) And I'm looking for a tension set look. I'll attach a pic for you.
There is one coming up here on Monday and I'm trying to send BF! But I want it to be worth his time!

Bring your inspiration with you... many of them have "designers" there who can custom make it too. Have you tried a local jeweler seeing if they could custom do one for you?
Lol - My problem was that thins were either too plain (solitaire) or too blingy... I needed that right amount of oomph... without overkill ;-)

Okay I will send him in! We are thinking about custom designing through the store as well. But in the end, he gets to decide. I'm just giving him all the info :) Thanks again for your help!

Our jeweler, where we are pretty sure we want to get the ring, is having a restyling event. They said a company will being in lots of settings and we can choose and have them set it that day. I am looking for something very specific and unique. I was wondering if anyone has every been to one of these events, and if so, what you thought about it?
