@TheEdge:Agree. I can see why people prefer plated vs. buffet though(I prefer buffet myself), germs, cold food although I've never had an issue. Cold food.......blame the caterer/servers. They should know damn well to keep everything stocked and hot/cold.
I think the bees deserve to be told that TheEdge is a vendor even though they do not disclose this in all their posts; I just noticed in a recipe thread. These polls and posts like this are essentially market research for them...
@Amaryllis: I had a feeling after this post. Too "professional" sounding.
Fair enough, but I don't see the harm in it :). It's the same as USER87(insert other numbers) or LB asking how brides like their photos delivered to them. I believe one of them did that once?
Anyway, I think an even split makes a lot of sense, since both of them are great options if done correctly.
@jo.lee: It's against the rules, and it seems like this particular user has an agenda with a lot of similar posts in a short time. I also just think this comes across as deceptive. It may not be a big deal if you know about it, but I don't take kindly to volunteering information to help a bride only to find out that I've been duped by a professional vendor digging for info. Read the regular boards and absorb it if you must, or else develop your own market research and clearly label it as such.
Edited because I found USER876. S/he asked one poll months ago. And USER876 comments on other people's questions with help, not just posting for his/her own purposes. You can check TheEdge's profile -- s/he does not comment on other threads, just starts them. Including some blantant rule breaking ones with blog links and spam about their own services. I really don't think you can compare the two.
Anyway, that is just my opinion of the situation. I posted my original comment just to let other bees know because I felt duped when I realized it in the other thread, and I wanted to spare other bees that feeling.
So idk if your caterer offers it, but we're doing a 'family style' dinner. I liked the forced mingling and movement involved in buffet, but didn't want my guests waiting in lines for food. Our caterers are just bringing big plates of food to the table and everyone can take what they like. That way it forces interaction but no lines and no having to get guest's food preferences!
oops, I didn't read the comments above...but that's still my 2 cents :P
@Amaryllis: Thanks. I just reviewed their post history and it seems they are always doing these polls then follow up with 'the results are in!". Corny.
I don't see the harm in it. They aren't posting links to their business everywhere or posting specials and what not.

The results are in! And this was our closest poll yet!
With only a 4% difference, the winner, with 52% of the vote, is....
(drumroll, anyone?)
The Buffet Dinner!!!
We loved hearing your input as to why you preferred plated/buffet. They were all great points.
