@meliss: Crebre is an event planner. :)
@crebre80: Congratulations on your new job and new career path, girl! :) Hey, your wedding is coming up fast.
i haven't yet...i look forward to the day tho! i'm finishing up my degree in architecture, and have been working at my current job for 6 yrs....a firm is way way different than school! anyways, i'm in the transition process as of right now...i'm starting up photography as a hobby and looking into doing weekend unpaid internships....my ultimate goal is to retire from being in an architecture firm and marriage the two fields by becoming a fultime architectural photographer....and i will always have the degree in architecture as a fall back plan....of course, its gonna be a long time before the switching of career paths becomes official because i have to gain experience and more knowledge in the photography field... i def cant wait tho!! i would love to feel free as well!! lol :-)
@oyster:shhhhh!!!!! I don't tell everyone lol!!!! And omg yeah it is coming up really quickly! I did the mockup today and it was awesome. I hopefully will be able to post pix tomorrow...
@beekiss: thanks so much my boss to be emailed me twice and I had to take a drug test etc, but I promptly wrote my thank you letter to her today and she was just so awesome making sure that the H.R. Dept didn't have me working somewhere else. She goes oh I was scared to death lol!!!
@meliss: yeppers oyster said it. I owned an event design and planning business....
@crebre80: Sounds like a great boss which will make work so much more enjoyable! I had an aunt that retired from the USPS, she actually did so well with them that she set up a family fund for scholarships and retired relatively early in age with great benefits! I hope everything works out well and you enjoy it!
@mama: how cool is that? I have recently been dabbling in photography as well.... But more inanimate still life... I have surprised myself lately with some shots especially of my ring lol!! But I think I am passionate about it ;)
@beekiss:that's awesome!!! This is my third career in life. Once upon a time I was a court reporter as well.... I really like everyone in the office. They were sooo nice but maybe because they are in desperate need of help and didn't want to scare me off lol!!!! I hope to be like your aunt!
@crebre80: i kno right?? i've always absolutely loved taking pictures but never realized my passion for it 'til i took a photography class last semester and omg! i had my point and shot camera for like 4 yrs b4 taking that class and afterwards, i learned how to use it 10x better....lol and i was surprising myself with the shots i was taking as well....i would recommend taking a class for fun if you haven't already! :-) well, of course not any time soon tho since ur wedding's coming up! yay!! :-)
@mamahusky:Ooohhh that sounds so fun!! I bet my son would love it. He is very artsy...
Congrats!! I am sure you will be excellent at your new job. Are you going to be selling your excess inventory?
My mom was a USPS union president for a good decade, and a shop steward before that. She was quite good at it. ;) What are you doing within USPS?
@vegan:yep I am selling the excess inventory and I will be a rural carrier. I am really excited about all of it especially the income. This year has been the toughest financially and if we could survive all of the things that happened this year, then marriage will be a breeze....
@oyster: girl please!!! I didn't care lol!!! You are hilarious!
I left the job I love also. It kills me some days to watch the news especialy with the elections one week away. I am considering going back to the field for the presidential races, as I don't think I can be just a bystander for it.
Good luck girly. It will be great.
Three years ago I left a good company with perks to pursue a career in teaching - I now hate it. I left my permanent teaching post in the Summer this year and am now doing supply (don't know the American term for this). I really want a job I can be happy with.
WHAT?! Girl, what the hell? We need to talk ASAP!!!
@kmsull:lol!!! I have hated it for a while to be honest with you. I loved helping people but having the inventory etc just wasn't worth it to me.
I worked on federal political campaigns. I am so kicking myself for not getting into a race this year, the excitement of years like this only come around every 15 or so years. I will be back after the first of the year, the more I think about it, the more I know it is my passion and I can't live without it in some form or another. I would just like to get one more big win under my belt before I give it up for good to really know I made a difference. I won the last race I was on, while it was the best we had at the time, I never really felt the candidate was "the one" I could really stand with 100%. Of course those come along rarely. I have enjoyed my time away and have kept my toes in by speaking to local students about a variety of subjects as a guest lecturer and doing bit work for a few locals.
@tks: that's sooo cool!!! I think that my true calling is somewhere in marketing and brand identification and/or customer service.... But I am happy with the security of USPS and I can still do my things on the side....
I so wanted to get into a marketing and/PR firm a few years ago. For some reason, their HR departments couldn't see how politcal campaigns are marketing/PR. Seriously!? It's all marketing/PR, the morons.
@tks: sometimes people are so caught up in what they think is the right background that they can't think outside the box....
Congrats! I went from telecommunications manager to pharmacy student. :-)
@missjyc: THANKS GIRLIE!!
@artichokesalad: that's a heck of a jump!! how are you enjoying it?
Congrats! I am sure your clients will be sad to hear that you are closing up shop...but if you don't love what you are doing, sometimes it makes it hard to give it your best effort.
@JamaicaBride: Everyone is really upset with me. However, weddings have taken over my life and my house for far too long. I am just over it. If people want bouquets I am still willing to do that, otherwise I am just not interested.
I just put my classified's listing up for the stuff that I can get rid of now... I feel so.. clean lol and free.

I am soo excited to start with the USPS. As such I am sad to be putting my wedding planning business into retirement. I have TONS of inventory to get rid of and three more events booked and then I am done! It is a sad realization but I am excited for what the future will bring. I think I will still have a penchant for doing certain things and may do them on the side but I feel so... Free.
My friends/business associates are upset that I am retiring my business but I began falling out of love with what I love the most:weddings!!!! Thank goodness I will still be able to help brides via the Hive or else I may go bonkers lol!!!!!
Anyone else switch career paths?
