Hi, I am in the same boat as you are. I went on a leave of absence for depression and anxiety on June 15. My job had to give up my position after about two weeks. I was slated to return to work last Monday, but my job hasn’t gotten back to me yet. In the meantime, I worked a shift at an old job last weekend. It was weird going back to working after so many weeks. I am questioning my ability to work full-time or even in the mental health field. My job was really stressful, which exacerbated my issues, so I’m scared to go back. I’ve been looking around at other options and applying, but nothing has happened yet. I am concerned about relapsing when I go back, but at the same time, I’m worried about not bringing in income and relying on my FI. It’s making me feel more depressed. I want to be productive and make money, but I don’t know how it will be to jump back into working, especially at the job that caused it. But the pay is good. 🙁

I wouldn’t worry so much about trying to pay him back ASAP because that could cause more anxiety for you than necessary. I went to group and individual therapy during my time off, and they emphasized taking it one day at a time. Just see how things go instead of trying to predict what may or may not happen. Your BF sounds like he is being patient and caring, which is great. Utilize supports as much as you can. Does your work know what happened? They should accommodate your needs because it’s a medical issue.

I understand how you are feeling. I took a leave of absence last year for depression.  I was terrified to go back.  But I’ve been back over a year now and things are SOOO much better.  Good luck to you!

I ask because my supervisor knew and has tried to find me a less stressful position, so that helps.

@Jacqui90:  How are you feeling about that?

I may be going back to the stressful job, and I’m pretty anxious about it.

I feel you, I’ve been depressed for the past two weeks about not working right at my return date, but going back causes it, too. I’m going to need all the support I can get! Good luck on the hunt!
