Pinkmoon:  Are all your walls chocloate brown? On my monitor they look three different colors.

Both of your pics are a bit busy for me. I would do something calmer, one color, like slate or even a metal tile.

We are redoing our file place right now too! Ours had whitish tile that were very uneven and terrible looking. We went with this product for the facing:, in the seirra color. It brings the brown of the walls in nice (our walls are brown too!) and also the grey from the slate we picked for the hearth. I can’t tell but it doesnt look like you have a hearth. Are you keeping the mantel the same?

good luck!

Pinkmoon:  Personally I LOVE the first one with the rock. I think it’s really pretty. I think that tile is way too busy. I know it’s all the rage now in kitchens (we just bought a house a year ago so I saw a lot of kitchens), but I think it’ll go out of style quickly.

Pinkmoon:  I like the look for the first one- the others are just too busy for my tastes. If your worried about it being even with the mantle/sticking out too far couldn’t you just get a new mantle made or even an extender that goes on top of the one you have now but sticks out further?

Pinkmoon:  I’d pick the 1st one any day. I love the look of it. The tile is just too small in my opinion.

My vote is for the stone/rock.
