We are planning on a 7 day Eastern Caribbean cruise with 1 night stay in Florida to do some outlet shopping and enjoy some “American” food.
Should I wear my engagement ring and wedding band on the trip? Just the band? Fake stand-in?
I’m soooo used to wearing my ring now, don’t want to go bare fingered for a whole week!

I didn’t vote because I’m opting for no ring on honeymoon. We’re traveling to South Africa and Mozambique.
I think you’ll be fine wearing your rings on a cruise – you should have access to a safe in your room in the event you don’t want to wear them.

@Sparkle_Bee: I voted to wear both rings because you’ll be on a cruise, so you should have access to a safe should you and your new hubby want to go on an excursion where you’d worry about losing it. Plus, when you guys get all dressed up for the fancy dinners you’ll want to wear your pretty sparkly.

After seeing a lot of women on the bee talk about getting stand ins or not wearing theirs on the honeymoon, I really thought about this before my honeymoon.
In the end I decided to wear both rings and I’m glad I did. It was still so new and special that i couldnt imagine not wearing them, plus they are a part of my finger now! We did have an in room safe and after a few days of wearing them in the ocean, they started getting a little grimy. So when swimming I would lock them in the safe. Other than that I wore them the whole time.
As long as they are the proper size and insured I see no reason not to wear them.

@mstellah: beat me to it on the safe idea!

I don’t like to travel flashy, so I voted just the band.

I would wear a fake stand in ring, since you don’t want your finger to be bare. If you plan on swimming or other activities, you don’t want to lose your real ring or worry about putting it away in a safe place everytime you want to do something.
I’ll be wearing mine, but we’re just going on a road trip to stay in a bunch of different cities & hotels, the only swimming we’ll be doing is a heated private pool in our suite.

I vote that you wear both. I always wore diamond jewelry in the caribbean/on the beach/etc., Ive had zero issues. Your likely docking in toursity areas anyway.
I may only be bringing my wedding ring on our belated honeymoon. We are toying with the idea of going to morocco tho.

@Sparkle_Bee: Wear both. You will be fine. It’s a safe area.

We got “stand in” rings to wear on our honeymoon only when we were in the ocean or the pool. We just didn’t want to risk losing our rings while swimming/snorkeling, etc. We wore our real rings the rest of the time though — at dinner, sightseeing, all over. 🙂

I would never trust a room safe…ever. I’ve talked about this with FI…my wedding band is going to be a 3/4 eternity band, but I wouldn’t just wear the band either. I am planning on getting a plain, rose gold miligrain band for times when I don’t want to worry about diamonds. I can’t imagine rubbing myself down with sunscreen or oil and all the muck getting into my brand new ring…it would drive me absolutely crazy. Plain metal band for me.

I’ve never considered NOT wearing the rings on our honeymoon. During my childhood my parents and I traveled to beach destinations and they never wore “stand-in” rings. Granted, their rings are not what I would consider “flashy.” Will you continue to not travel in your wedding rings as the years go on?

I wore mine on my cruise, BUT I did take it off when we went to the beaches because I didn’t want to lose them inthe water on accident or something, but I wore it around the ship all the time.

I will be in Europe where pick pocketing is common. I’m wearing a dummy engagement ring on the honeymoon! I bought one that is similar to my real ring and I’ve already worn it to Mexico and will be wearing it during all foreign travel..except to the US!
