Yay Rhodie! Okay okay, we don't actually live there, but FI is from RI and we both love it.And everyone I've ever met from RI (including FI) is immensely proud of their little state. ![]()
I'm at The Towers in Narragansett.
I am just over the line in Mass. Our cake is coming from Dyane's Sweet Tooth in Cumberland. The wedding is in Attleboro.
I live in Rhode Island and have my whole life but we are getting married in Walpole, MA. I went to a couple of florist here in pawtucket on sat. loved one they lady was so helpful. The other one the staff wasn't all that helpful but have a great reputation and a ton of people I know use them don't know what to do. Anyone find a good florist??
My wedding is 2/20/10 trying to keep it simple for my FI!!
Oh lit geek26 I love the Towers! My FI and I both went to URI so we know them well. I've seen pictures of weddings in the Towes and it looks so unique and beautiful!
@Nikpaq I don't know any florists by Walpole but I love my florist in Wakefield, RI. It's Flowerthyme and they've been so great with inspiration and keeping things under budget.
Tee, we using FlowerThyme too! We met with them last week and love their style! I'm glad to hear good reviews of the Towers too.
I'm getting married in RI! But I live in MA.
@Tee: We're also 10/10/09. FI chose the date b/c he liked the ten-ten.
@lit geek26: The Towers is gorgeous!! We did a drive-by and I loved it! It was too far from our church though.
@Nikpaq: Where in Walpole? I work off Coney Street near the Walpole Mall. :-)
Grey56: We are having it at Raffael's on Rte. 1A. It is in the most random spot ever I would never of know it was there but my Dad has a cleaning business and that is where he cleans.
Yay for RI brides!! We're getting married 9/18/2010, reception at the Narragansett Clubhouse (Church wedding). I really wanted the Towers but getting ahold of the woman who coordinates was so hard and trying to get her to show me the space when I was in town (I no longer live in RI) was so stressful so when I found the clubhouse on the beach I decided against the Towers. However, all the vendors I contact are familiar with the Towers, particuarly caters. Oh and I'm considering using Chelo's catering as they have a great catering menu, has anyone ever been to an event catered by Chelo's? I would love to hear feedback since I've only eaten at the restaurants.
9/25/10 here, The Dunes Club in Narragansett-- hoping to use Flowerthyme as well! They've done all my proms and other special flower-needing events.
I'm so exicted to hear more good things about Flowrthyme! We have our appt with them in July.
@ Grey56: We got the 10/10 date because it was a holiday weekend and since we moved to NY, we wanted to work in as many vacation days as possible. The 10/10 is a nice touch though.
WOO for RI Brides!!!
I live in Boston, but my man and I are getting hitched in Newport! 8/1/09... it's coming up so fast!!!!
We LOVE Rhode Island, and can't WAIT to start our married lives there. Where is everyone else getting married?!?
slicey: The woman at the Towers is super hard to get ahold of...boo! Luckily, we've booked and now don't have to deal with her! I haven't had experiences with Chelo's catering, unfortunately. We're in the midst of looking for a caterer and meeting with Shelter Harbor Inn folks on Sunday.
Hi everyone! I live in NYC but am planning a 7/5/10 Newport wedding at the Astor Beechwood Mansion. It's a little stressful being long distance, but I am just trying to tackle one thing at a time. Does anyone have ideas for rehearsal dinner venues? A friend suggested renting a house and then just having a BBQ - not sure how I feel about that, but it's a start. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks.
Hello RI brides! I live in San Francisco but we are getting married in East Providence at Squantum Association on 6/26/2010. Has anyone heard anything (good or bad) about this venue? Its been booked by my future mother in law and my fiance and I have only seen it from their website.
I'm getting married on August 6, 2010 at Astors' Beechwood Mansion! I live in Boston but my fiance and I spent every August in Newport and absolutely love it there!
Astors Nuptuals -- I haven't yet picked my rehearsal dinner venue, but do go to Newport a lot and have a few suggestions. 22 Bowens has excellent food and it is right on the waterfront. It's basically a classic steakhouse -- I love it and will be checking it out as a rehearsal dinner option. If you want something more casual, Brick Alley Pub has a few private rooms that can accommodate a large group. This is not on the water and is more casual but the food is great and I go for lunch almost everytime I'm in Newport! My co-worker had her rehearsal dinner there and did a lobster/clambake and said it was great. I will be checking out a few places toward the end of the month so I will let you know if I have any other ideas. Have you booked any other vendors yet? A caterer? If you have met with some caterers on Astors' list I am interested to hear your experiences with them!
It is so fun to hear from all of you Newport brides!
Astors Nuptials, I agree with Beechwood Bride's suggestions. 22's is great.
I spent 4 years in Newport and have a couple other suggestions- If you want soemthing relaxed similar to a bbq, Kempenaar's clambake has bbq options, lobster bake options or clambake options. http://www.newportclambakes.com/ I went there for a senior week activity, it was really fun. You can have music, either through and IPOD or DJ, plus they have horseshoes, volleyball and other fun games, its a fun settign for your guests to relax and get to know each other. It's also a lot cheaper than other options.
Castle Hill is pricey, but has gorgeous views of the water and the Newport bridge. I may do my bridesmaid luncheon there.
Atlantic Beach Club is on the water and also has lobsterbake options. We arehaving our wedding and maybe day after brunch there.
Hi!
My finacee live in Chicago, but are planning a Rhode Island wedding for 9.25.2010!
I grew up in Providence and my family still lives there. We're getting married at Manning Chapel on the Brown Universtiy Campus (where my parents were married in 1975) and then heading down to the Glen Manor House!
@Tee : my best friend had her wedding reception at Whispering Pines. It was absolutely fantastic! Almost everyone stayed overnight, and after the wedding we had a bonfire and told stories. Unbeatable!
Let's get this post going again! Any RI brides? We are from Mass but getting married at Wannamoisett Country Club in Rumford.
We are shopping cakes right now and florists.
Soon I will be looking into hair and makeup in the area
Any suggestions?
I was also a RI bride, but from Massachusetts! We were married in Newport last fall. Florals by Alisa did our flowers and Sara Faella did hair & makeup - and they were both incredible, way beyond my expectations! Totally recommend checking them out.
I'm from RI, FI is from CT and we live in MA! RI has our favorite place; the site of our first kiss, the place we first said "I love you" and where he proposed to me. We're getting married at the Narragansett Towers!
Yay! Congratulations fellow Rhody Brides-to-Be!
My fiance went to school at Roger Williams in Rhode Island but is originally from Mass.; I grew up in upstate NYC. We currently live in California and are planning a May 2012 wedding with a ceremony at South Ferry and reception at The Towers in Narragansett. Eagerly awaiting October 11 when we FINALLY get to see these beautiful venues in person for the first time (yup, that's right...we booked off of reviews, online pics, and my future in-laws going to visit for us). Other vendors booked so far are Florals by Alisa, West Bay Gourmet, Moondance Productions (DJ), Susan Sancomb (photography), and Formal Hair Design.
Congrats to all the other late 2011 and 2012 (and beyond) brides! : )
Erin
@IrishEMN: You won't be disappointed!!! We have the exact same plan for September 2012 - South Ferry Church followed by The Towers! Susan Sancomb is AMAZING and West Bay Gourmet was definitely in our top two choices for catering. If you need suggestions or help with vendors I'm happy to be a local resource for you :-)
I grew up in Rhody (and live in MA now) and we just booked Linden Place for May 2013. Bristol is beautiful and we can't wait!!! I've already got half of my vendors booked!
Katie - I live in Bristol and you are so lucky to be getting married at Linden Place! It's such a beautiful and elegant spot. We were thinking about having our wedding there but decided to go a little further away from home :)
@IrishEMN: Florals by Alisa did my flowers for my wedding! You will not be disappointed!
yay RI! haha!
I'm born and raised in Newport (well Middletown), and getting married here this summer! woohoo.
Still trying to decide on a place for rehearsal, and am probably way behind the eight ball.
Still open for suggestions for a cake, too!
@alexroet: Check out Scrumptions bakery in East Greenwich. They have a great website too! As for rehearsal, what's your budget?
I live in RI but our wedding is in VT. Any brides out there using mason jars in a wedding before sept and want to sell them to me? I'm looking for blue mason jars. Thanks!

Where are all the Rhody brides? I know we're a little state... but we're the biggest little state in the union! Haha, jk. But no really, we are:)
Where is everyone getting married and when? I'm 10/10/09 at Whispering Pines. Any vendor hits or misses for you guys? Or any really good RI finds??
