So my SO bought me a diamond ring for my birthday in November of 2012. It was/is beautiful but it has been a pain in my ass. It has a lot of teensy tiny diamonds in a lace/infinity type design. Since I received the ring I have had to take it in to repairs due to 3 diamonds falling out. I just picked it up Thursday from the jewelry store after the 3rd one was replaced. Low and behold tonight I glance down at my ring and another diamond is missing, possibly 2. One is obvious that its missing, its a gaping black hole. While the other one is at the end of the row and has two prongs with a hole in the middle so it looks like a diamond would belong there but I’m.not sure. This is driving me nuts. We bought this ring from Gordons Jewelers (same company as Zales) and bought the lifetime warranty. So while they will replace all the diamonds I just hate having to do this all the time. I’ve owned a lot of jewelry and I don’t think I’ve ever had a diamond fall out before. I am not hardon my hands at all so I know that it is not me.
Have you ever had this happen? What did you do? Do you think they would allow me to do an exchange due to a defect in the ring and I would choose something with less diamonds for less chance of this happening again? Do jewelry stores even do that?
Here is a picture of the ring.
