It depends on how "fancy" and how wide the ribbon material is. Costco sells ribbons at $8/$9 for 50 yards. MJ Trim has a good selection as well.
I went on bbcrafts.com and got 50 yards of organza (7/8 inch wide) for like $8.00 with shipping. In my experience every place online was cheaper than at an actual store, and since I needed a lot for my invites it worked out.
I also used bbcrafts.com, as it was the cheapest I've found for the amount that I needed in the thicknesses I needed (1.5" and 2"). I guess a yard came out to be around $1 there, but usually the more you order, the more you save. I spent $98 for 275 yards.
I'd also recommend The Ribbon Factory, because not only was the price good, but they cut your ribbon into pre-specified lengths and heat-seal it for you! They didn't carry thick ribbon though, so I had to go with bbcrafts.
Hope that helps!
I used http://www.ribbonfactory.com/ for my first ribbon order, and it's $12.60 for 100 yards of 1/2 inch double faced satin ribbon. It's much cheaper for thinner ribbon too. The minimum order there is $20, and plus there's an extra shipping charge. But, I got some ribbon pre-cut with the ends heat sealed and it was awesome. It'd really recommend that so the ends don't fray, especially if you're using the ribbon in a way where the ends really show.
Later on when I needed some more ribbon, I was ordering some other things from http://www.nashvillewraps.com/ and saw that they're pricing was almost identical, for the same double faced satin ribbon, so I just ordered my extra ribbon from nashville wraps because I didn't need $20 worth of ribbon and I was saving on shipping costs.
Good luck!
Try http://www.papermart.com. I got rolls of 25 yard for around $4, no min. orders.
I've been buying all of my ribbon and tulle on e-bay. I recently got beautiful 2" satin ribbon for $2 a roll (25 yards) and pretty inexpensive shipping. All in all, I got 3 spools of ribbon and such for under $10 even after shipping. The vendor is "DreamPartyCreations" and I have ordered from them several times, no problems.
hey! Thanks for all the suggestions...
How were your experiences choosing colors? I want to make sure we get the right shade.
