Hmm....I've seen sparklers and they were really cool but not every venue will allow them due to the fire hazard. I've actually never seen a send-off in real life as most of our friends prefer to hang out until the wedding is over and then head off to the afterparty...
I was toying of the idea of sprinkles, crazy huh? I saw this on Pinterest and thought it sounded different and cute

throw sprinkles instead of rice! "For the sweetest day of their lives" Only problem...what if it rains? Still thinking about it though...
@AirForceWife78: that is really cute! however I feel like you realllly need to check with your venue on that one, can you imagine the ants??
@MrsNerdy: Yeah I know! It will probably be a no go, but I just thought it would be so cute!
I've been looking at confetti/streamer poppers for guests to shoot off as we walk down the aisle after the ceremony. I hope I can find some that don't make that awful gun shot sound! Can you imagine hundreds of those going off at once! HEART ATTACK!
@ashkat: lol that would be terrifying! But if you can find some that sounds really fun!
I just went with bubbles. I was going to do sprinkles like AirForceWife78 was thinking about because I saw the same picture! But bubbles were cheap and they wouldn't get in anybody's hair or down dresses. I got 100 pack of the clear tube bubbles for $15 at WalMart!
@JM1217: hm... the affordablility (is that a word?) is a very good point... we'll probably end up going this route now that I think of it that way!
I really liked the idea of doing something like this with our programs but using rose petals:

but now I realize its stupid because i have a ceremony and reception all inclusive venue, so people won't be sending us off until several hours after the ceremony and I don't think they'd keep track of the programs long enough to do this.
We used rose petals! Fortunately, our venue didn't care because they're biodegradable, and we got them for free from our florist! We just put them in a couple of pretty baskets, and people grabbed a handful on the way out the door to the sendoff.

Just wondering what other bees are using! I have no idea. I love the look of sparklers but realized that a) I'm terrified of sparklers (lol) and b) in Texas we have been on burn bans for like the last year. I'm considering rose petals, since it will be dark out and bubbles will seems useless.
Also, post pictures if you have them!
