So happy to have a place like this to get all my excitement out, so that my girl-friends don’t get tired of me, lol.
Excited part; My BF is moving 350 miles away in 2 days, to start a new career, first time we will ever be “long distance” in 3.9 years, and I am about 10% sad! Everyone keeps asking how I am, like I am going to break down in tears, and I am doing great, lol. We plan on being married in January 2011 (at which point I will join him in his new city), I am thinking we will be engaged by Oct. OF THIS YEAR! I know him moving will be hard once I get home from helping him move and he isn’t around but I can’t help but be really excited!!! We will see each other every other weekend for the next 5 months and Skype and whatever else we can do to keep in touch.
Ridiculous part; Pre-engagement ideas! I have gotten brochures to 2 different venues, printed out pics of dresses and cake styles I like and – for the most ridiculous part – spent 30 minutes designing our invitations – didn’t buy them; THAT would be beyond ridiculous. My name is Soon2bbb and I am a pre-planning addict! LoL.
Anyone else way super excited and have some ideas flowing already?

I’m excited that the engagement may be coming soon for me, too. On Saturday he went out to run some errands on his own. I asked him recently is he’s bought a ring and he said “I haven’t paid for anything”… and kept stressing it like that, as if he’s got something picked out.
I am pretty ridiculous with my excel spreadsheet of potential vendors. I just keep adding to the list, though. I have so many pictures and ideas for specifics but I’ll just try to keep a lid on myself.
Also I’m glad you’re taking the long distance well! Good luck for a speedy proposal!

Oh, I totally have the excel spreadsheet for my budget (complete with my mom’s notes via email, she’s a bit excited too!) I was all gung-ho when we first started talking engagement, now 4 months later I’ve forced myself to stop it since all the pre-planning was starting to increase my waiting anxiety. Haven’t managed to keep myself off these boards, though!
Best of luck to you, january 2011 is right around the corner! You SHOULD be planning, girl! 😉

I have our budget nailed down and we are definitely pre-planning here. Like, Spring 2013 (god I hope it’s not that long!) pre-planning. We’re going to have a destination wedding and I know the destination, the venue/lodging, etc. I have our budget worked out to know the cost of flight, lodging, wedding, reception, car rental and groceries on the island. I also have my dress, decorations, invitations budgeted. AND I have budgeted a one-month after evening reception at a local park pavillion for 50-70 of our friends and relatives. I don’t have our menus planned yet, but that’s okay. I need something to do. Did I mention I’m pretty sure I know what my dress will be? I have the decorations planned out for both the island and here, and I know what companies I plan to order them from. I have a pretty good idea about our invitations. I do need to think about music for the ceremony and party (ipod playlists, obvi) and though I know what flowers I’d love, I’m not sure what will be available. The venue provides all the licenses, officiants, decorations, set-up, flowers, cake, etc. so I won’t have to think about it after I pick what I want. Can you tell that I’m ready, like, now??
