Yesterday was a beautiful day…80 degrees/sunny – definitely a day to enjoy! When I got home from work, I took our dog on a long walk, and while en route decided that I wanted to spend the evening outdoors! Then I thought, “what can I do to be productive while outside?!”, and could I could rake the leaves as a way to surprise my SO! He has been working 6 days/week – 10 hour days + a 1.5 hour commute to and from. Needless to say, he leaves before sun up, and arrives home after sun down.
So, I spend 2 hours raking leaves/dragging leaves, etc. Then, I proceed to put dinner in the oven, and look forward to him arriving home!
EXCEPT that when he did, he was FUMING MAD. He was mad that I raked the leaves. He was mad because that is ‘his thing!’, and he did not need me to feel sorry for him that he has NO time to do ‘his things!’. HE ALWAYS GETS HIS STUFF DONE!
So, I explain that I did not feel sorry for him, but did it because I love him. I explain that I knew it was supposed to rain, and the only day he COULD do it was Sunday. But guess what?! We are going to the football game, and are leaving at 8am to tailgate, etc. With all this said, I KNOW he LOVES yard work, but seriously, had I known it would have made him upset, I would not have done it. Now I know, and I will never do it again. Fine…whatever. I also know he is extremely tired, and slightly cranky, so pardon me for TRYING to do something ‘nice’ for him.
Long story short, I/we ended up laughing when I said two things. 1) I can put the leaves back if he wants me too, and 2) I would LOVE for him to tell his friends/coworkers/anyone, that he and his gf fought last night because SHE RAKED THE LEAVES – (GASP, what a biotch I am!!).
He did apologize for his reaction, etc, but seriously?! All that frustration because I raked?! My coworker, bc I told her this morning, stated that maybe he was embarrassed that neighbors would have seen me lugging tarps of leaves all over, and not him, thus making him look like a d-bag. I said maybe, but I am pretty sure had I come home from work to a clean house, and dinner on the table (the things I enjoy doing at our house), he would have gotten a BIG HUG, and HUGE THANKFUL, and pretty much anything else he wanted! “Others” reactions would be the last thing I would worry about! *facepalm*
SORRY this is so long, lol, but bees please share your ridiculous fight stories!!
