@misstwinkle:  It sounds like you are getting yourself all worked up and stressed, relax! I don’t know why she isn’t answering your question, maybe she doesn’t understand what you mean? Or maybe she thinks your concern is that if the stone in stock is older it may be more prone to damage?

I don’t think you should worry too much about not having several stones to see in the store, they may have a good reason for not stocking a bunch at a time. Many people buy their moissys online sight unseen, so I think the fact that you get to see yours IRL first is great, plus if the jeweler pre-screens them then you should feel even better about it. I don’t have a moissy, so I can’t comment much on cut and color IRL but I do think that if the jeweler thinks it’s good enough to stock and show you in person, it’s probably a gorgeous stone. So relax and get excited!

I agree that she may be misunderstanding your question. In response to your inquiry about the age of the stone, she is replying that the FB treatment is a permanent treatment and you shouldn’t be worried that it will degrade over time. But I think (maybe I’m wrong, though) that you’re asking about how recently the stone was created to determine how current the technology was at the time it was made. Correct? Maybe try clarifying if that’s what you’re after.

@misstwinkle:  The awesome thing about getting a moissanite from a brick and mortar store, is that you get to see it in person.  If you don’t like it, you don’t have to purchase it.  Some jewelry stores do not carry high quality moissanites, while others do.  I had no problem finding a good jeweler that was willing to order one for me to see.  I would highly recommend looking for a reputable, local master IJO jeweler.  I’ve had my moissy for over 3 years and I’m still madly in love with it (6mm)

@misstwinkle:  There is no way of vendor’s knowing how old a stone is. C&C doesn’t keep track of the old rough from the new on the warranty cards. I just asked my jeweler if they knew what rough my stone came from and they were unsure as well, but they are guessing 2nd gen because of when they purchased it from C&C. I think maybe she just doesn’t understand your question because she might not even know about the differences between roughs.

I was under the impression they weren’t selling the “old moissy” anymore. Especially if you buy from a direct source.
