I’m having trouble thinking of items to place in our OTT bags. I have the general items, wedding activities, local attractions, restaurant recommendations, etc. But! I was also thinking this could be a great opportunity to include items that reflect my hometown, Boston, the FIs hometown, New Mexico, and the State we’re getting married in RI.
The problem? I’m really stuck with what to include. Any ideas/suggestions?

How about these for MA/RI:
Cape Cod Potato Chips
Poland Spring water and/or Nantucket Nectars juice
chocolate covered cranberries
lobster shaped lollipops
Anything Red Sox!
Dell’s Lemonade scented candles
There’s a ton of other options, but they might not be great for OOT bags. Check out the “Only in Rhode Island” or “Massachusetts Bay Trading Co” websites. Lots of good ideas on there!
Sorry, can’t help you with NM!

It could be fun to do state cookies, you could do one of each state and tie them up in a cute bag: http://www.weddingbee.com/2010/09/03/custom-cookies/ I saw this after we planned our oot bags and fell in love.
We ended up doing a nautical/RI themed bag, this may give you some ideas: http://www.weddingbee.com/2010/12/27/rhode-island-out-of-town-bags/
Good luck! 🙂

Anything Red Sox
A $5 gift card to Dunkin Donuts
Cape Cod chips that a PP suggested is a great idea-you can buy them in bulk at BJ’os or Costco
Mini Boston Cream Pie
Newport is beautiful. I would say something related to the beach or boats….but I can’t think of anything right now.

There’s already a bunch of great suggestions for NE, to which I would add maple sugar candy!
For NM, you could include small ropes of dried chiles, piñon nuts, a “red and green” chile combo (“Red or green?” is the official NM state question!), or little lizard figurines.

For RI, I would also suggest coffee milk, but without refrigeration that probably wouldn’t end well. 😛

@mightywombat: I think the answer, at least in our future household, will be “green” 🙂
lol, I remember coffee milk!! I remember being given that in grammar school! The easiest way to develop a future coffee drinker.

@starfish: LOVE the state cookies! We’ll definitely do that! Thanks for the suggestion.
@BLeigh, @Bostongrl25: Will definitely add the Cape Cod Chips and Red Sox!
Thanks bees for all of the suggestions!

This was a good question for me, because RI, NM, and MA are the three states I’ve lived in since 1998. 4 years in PVD, 1 in Santa Fe, and the last 8 in Boston (with frequent visits to NM since I have family there).
