So, I just thought this would be fun for all of us waiting. My question is what style of ring are you hoping to get or have you already picked one out and just haven't gotten it yet. I'm trying to decide between a cushion cut or a round cut. The future fiance prefers round and that's what I've always loved until I saw a cushion when we went ring browsing one day. I just can't make up my mind! Anyways, here's a couple pics of what I LOVE! The first two are from Natalie K and the third is an antique from ArtDecoDiamonds.com.
Those are so pretty! I was always hoping for a cushion or princess, similar to the Tiffany Legacy in the first pic.
After we went out looking together, I fell in love with marquise shape.. like the one in the second photo.
We finally designed one based off a design we found at a jeweler. It's similar to the second ring, but I love it even more. It's supposed to be ready NEXT WEEK, which I was totally thrilled about, till the man told me I DON'T GET TO SEE IT till he gives it to me. Gaaah! That's sweet but it's also killing me waiting to see my precious! lol.
Oh I bet it will be gorgeous! I would be dying to see it! I'd probably have to snoop around haha!
The art deco ring you posted is just like the Tiffany Novo! I had my ring made to look like the Tiffany Novo, except in yellow gold instead of platinum. If you would like to see more pictures of rings, check out this earlier post: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/what-shapecut-is-your-diamond
I'm also going to try to attach a pic of my ring :-)
How I think mine will look (after discussions):
Not sure why but it looks way huge! Similar to the Cartier 1895
For as long as I remeber, I wanted princess or cushion cut. I didn't even look at the round ones. Until we went to look together at Tiffany's ( which btw had the best selection as far as styles and diamont sizes, so if you want the place to LOOK, I highly recommend you making the appointment. The sales lady was sweet and we I was able to try on bunch of different styles. We ended up getting my ring elsewhere for less, but for looking they were great). The sales associate made me try on round in six prong setting and there was no going back. After I tried it on, I never even looked at anything else and that is what I got when we got engaged. Five months later, I can't stop looking at my ring. It's everything I always wanted. Timeless elegance and sparkle.
Try on both and whichever one speaks to you most is the ONE. Good luck !
They are all so beautiful I would be thrilled with any one of them. Rock your bling when you get it ladies!!!
@Laura - I especially love the first one.
For myself, I would really love an emerald cut solitare - my e-ring from previous engagement yrs ago was a round-cut & since I have (to me anyways) big ol' fingers I never thought it looked good on me.
@ Calioteach I love the Tiffany Novo! But, I think to get a substantial sized diamond it would probably be too much...plus the closest Tiffany's is in Dallas and I doubt we'll be making a road trip so I can try it on. lol Your ring is gorgeous!
@Bellanga That is beautiful! So classic and timeless
@Happilywaiting I think the first one is my fave too! I like the band is a little wider. I just wish I could get a band to go on each side haha!
When we looked, I didn't want to pick out my exact ring. Instead, I showed him the three that kept catching my eye, but this Ritani was the one that I really kept going back to. I think this is the one he chose, although I won't know for sure until he makes his proposal. I do know he's getting a cushion cut though because I just love it so much.
I always thought I wanted a princess cut but ever seeing Beth Ostrosky's (Howard Stern's wife) ring I want one like it so badly!
Sorry about the pictures, apparently google is lacking interest in her gorgeous ring
@futuremrsr- that's my wedding ring! I LOVE it. The band of my e-ring is just like that e-ring as well, but it's a three stone princess elite instead of round. Yay!
I have a Natalie K set. I love my engagement setting, but we had to send back the wedding ring because the custom work was sub-par. I'll keep you posted.
I finally took a pic of my ring...we didn't get ANY at the wedding, boooooo. So, I thought I would share it here. We designed it together, and I am pretty fond of it....if I do say so myself. :)
We went looking a couple months ago and I found several that I really like, but didn't really fall in love with. I'm really bad at making a decision so I'm going to show him several types I like and let him be the one to pick it out. Plus I like the idea of not knowing exactly what ring I will be getting. Here is the style I really love.
@megan- That's so funny! I'm glad you love it though because I'm pretty sure that's the one he got me, only with the cushion stone in the center. Yay! Have you ran into any issues with it at all like loose stones or difficulties with cleaning?
Wow, those are all so sparkly and beautiful!
I love this ring....LOVE IT. It's from JamesAllen.com.
I know it'll be a round diamond, white gold or platinum, about 1 carat, and it'll have some sort of something to make the band not boring. I really want him to pick it out and surprise me so we're not going to look together, but here's a couple of the "inspiration photos" I gave him...
Hi ladies! After I found an engagement ring booklet in my boyfriends dresser drawer, I've been doing some serious ring dreaming! I love all your rings! I've pointed out a few different pictures to my boyfriend but the more I think about it... the more I keep going back to this beauty: (I really found it on the Cartier website - but this was the best pic of a similar ring I can find - a simply cushion cut solitaire). I love that we can share and drool over each others potential e rings!
Hi all - I am in love with an antique-style setting for an asscher cut diamond. I haven't tried any on yet though, which I hope to do this weekend (just to make sure the style looks good on me). I've sent him all sorts of examples, but he will have the ultimate say in the exact one he picks out. I just want to give him as much guidance as possible :)
Can I just say that my fiance surprised me with a cushion cut, it turns out this is my absolute favorite cut of diamond. I would choose cushion over round or any other shape a million times over! GO WITH CUSHION!
Plus, to let you know, it is not trendy as some may say. It is actually either the oldest, or one of the oldest cuts of diamonds. It is actually rare now, or so I've read.
Miss Staticgirl, your ring is BEAUTIFUL! Love the antique setting. :)
here's mine. its completely different from what i always thought i wanted and i actually picked it out on accident years ago while i was helping the fiances friend shop for his (now) wife's ring. ive been in love with it ever since, so the fiance didnt have to stress about picking anything but the stone!
i havent been able to take any good pictures of my actual ring, but heres the ones from the site... the only difference is my center stone is set a lot lower..
Tacori 2565... I picked it out 2 years ago... but the money has just not been there b/c we're still in school and it'll cost like 3-5x more than anyone else's that I know... so I'm the last one waiting... lol
sashax415, your ring is beautiful!! (i just sent the pics to my boy since we have been browsing!! )
Here are my top 2 of ones that i have seen/tried on so far...the top one, i really like it, but i have (somewhat) larger fingers, so i feel like (when i tried on a similar style in the store) that the skinny band looked strange on my finger. The boy said that it didnt look weird at all, that it is in my head and looked beautiful, but i still felt like it looked a BIT awkward. But i am still in love with the style of it!
The second one, the pic honestly doesnt do it justice. I wanted to LEAVE the store with the ring in hand,I was so in love with it, but the boy had to bring me back to earth (in a good way lol) to let me know that we cant leave with THAT one because he will be getting me a ring with larger carat diamond...lol
Anywho, this is so much fun!!! :)
I got a cushion cut! Rounds are very classic, but in my opinion, everybody has one, and I like very unqiue things in general, so I told my FI to get me a radiant but he got me a cushion! They facet like a round but with a unique flair. I love that people go, "ooo what IS that?";
Caveat: carat for carat, rounds have a wider face. If you set my 1 carat cushion next to my friend's 1 carat round, hers looks larger. Slight, but if you mostly are concerned about size, that's an issue I guess. It's because cushions are typically a deep stone, so the weight sits in the bottom a lot of the time. But that's what makes it sparkle like craaaaazy.
I think my images are good enough you can see the facets in my cushion. They come in so many different shapes. I like the rectangular ones, too!
I thought my love for diamond rings would diminish after I've had my engagement ring for so long...but i just LOVE looking at them. I catch myself looking at all the engagement rings int he store even though i already have one! They're all so pretty. If i could change mine out every day i think i would, just like a really expensive fashion accessory!! HAHAHA
Honestly, I would LOVE anything with a vintage type look. I've been eyeing the Tacori styles for years- but I think those are beyond his price point. At the end of the day, I'll love whatever he chooses for me!
@miss_marine - your first picture is my ring. I have a smaller setting at top though casue of my small petite hands I didnt want something that was so high off my finger!
I love it!
You can always get a round stone and then set it in a more squarish setting.
I always thought if I were to have a stone that I wanted ascher or cushion. But what I got is a round set with four pave diamonds, on on each corner of the setting. I feel like I got the best of both world. However, as I learned, the best thing to do was try them on. Same with dresses. Once it is on your hand, there is a feeling, you just know.
Good luck.
I am planning a wedding in Australia while my partner is in Kuwait. We will not visit the actual venue either. So, I understand where you are coming from. However, I actually consider this a blessing as you'll be trilled to be at your wedding and you won't have been so involved in little details that you forget what the entire event is really about.
Best wishes.
Here's my ring! It took me all day to find it online.
I initially thought I wanted something like the first pic. For any of you that saw The Family Stone-- something like that. Antique, lots of engraving and one stone.
But we went to Tiffany the last Saturday to try styles on and I fell in l-u-v with the emerald cut ring on the right. I loved the classic look of it, the clean lines, and how it looked on my hand. I guess I didn't know what I wanted after all.
On a side note: I am now addicted to trying on rings, kind of want to go somewhere else this weekend. I'm not going to, bc he would kill me but if I could...(sigh)
@ LovestheBear- I think both rings are gorgeous but the Tiffany one is particularly stunning. I love how you are addicted to trying on rings! It's funny because (I don't know if you'll believe this!!!) but I have NEVER tried on an engagement ring!! I'm saving my virginal left ring finger for when he puts on that e-ring FOR REAL!! Lol. I don't know why but I was always taught that it's bad luck to try on engagement rings before you're engaged~ and the same goes for trying on wedding dresses!
mandalee0624 that is my ring :-)I searched hundreds of rings online when my FI asked what I had liked so he could get an idea of what to get, and I only liked the tacori 2565 but I was going to be happy with whatever he got me. I was surpisced when he proposed & he bought me the tacori ring, I love it :-) Since you put a picture of it up already I won't but here is a picture of the ring at a differnt angle.
@ MissMarine - you should consider it! I thought the same thing about engagement rings! I told my friend that I didn't think I should any e-rings until I get my own and she immediately took hers off and told me to put it on! I feel the same way about dresses though, I will not try them on before I am engaged but to each his own. Anyway, ignore my peer pressure. Best of luck!
