Wow…they are both beautiful and usually I’m a HUGE fan of emerald cuts, but for some reason the oval in that setting is just soooo stunning…I love it! I personally would do the oval.

@Bettyboo1982: That’s funny that you are torn between my two favorite shapes. Today the edge for me is ovals. But that’s just today.
Emerald cut diamonds are clear and have far less sparkle in ccase that’s important to you.

I love the emerald cut with the rose gold! So pretty!

Have you tried either on? It really helps to actually try them on in real life (or even just something similar). I originally thought I wanted a round brilliant solitaire… but I was totally underwhelmed when I tried one on, and it looked odd on my hand. I ended up getting a cushion cut.
How do you feel about sparkle? Emerald cuts don’t really sparkle. I find them very elegant, but I needed something sparkly. As far as the gold choice, what works best with your skintone? I ended up going with platinum because I’ve worn silver and white gold my whole life.. the whiter metal looks better on my skintone.

Emerald in any of those golds! step cuts make me swoon!

I say emerald with the white gold.

I think the gold depends on your skin tone. My skintone looks best with rose gold.
But I like the emerald cut.

thanks ladies! I had never thought about the sparkle thing before! i assumed if they had the same clarity and colour they would be the same but now i’m after learning that round and oval cuts give off a better sparkle! ahhhhh! i haven’t tried on any engagment rings I don’t want to jink it! its likely he’ll propose when we go to the states end of November (he’s more or less said this) and I’ll get to pick the ring then. i think there are far more setting options in the states esp in rose gold, so i’d love to have all the research done that I can pick a ring out in the states! I’m not patient so i’ll want a ring on my ring asap!! he he its prob better to have the research all done! the more i read the more i learn! I have to save I’m swaying towards the oval! i didn’t realise a .1ct difference would make a difference but i think the emerald centre stone looks ALOT bigger in comparison!

@megan331979: Agree! I’m kind of obsessed with the oval rose gold, but honestly the oval ANYTHING would be amazing!
