Hello ladies! I’m planning on starting up gym time again…gotta get trim for the wedding in a year and a half, ya know? But it’ll be my first time going with the shiny e-ring! I’m debating if I want to wear it there or leave it at home…thoughts? What do you lovelies do? Thanks!

Once upon a time (when I actually worked out) I did wear my ring to the gym. I don’t like going out without it… feels weird to me! At that time I was just engaged and the only issue I ever had was when I was running on the treadmill my solitaire would sometimes knock into the railing things… so I’d just flip my ring around so the stone was closest to my palm. Now that I”m married (assuming I ever go back to the gym) I’ll probably leave the e-ring at home and just go with the wedding band.

I usually take my ring off at the gym, especially when lifting metal weights or using machines.

If I am just going to the gym from home, I will leave it behind. But usually I go to the gym on the way to and from work, so I do end up wearing it. If I’m doing cardio I will wear it, but if I’m doing weights I always take it off. Usually I’ll either wear a chain around my neck all day and put the ring on that for lifting. I also have one pair of shorts with a very secure key pocket that I can slip the ring in.
If it’s a gym-only trip, though, definitely not worth the risk of damage. (granted, my ring is emerald and gold so it’s pretty soft.)

I definitely take my engagement ring off. I don’t want it to get in the way or get dirty, and it’s just much easier to take it off.

I tend to flail my arms around a little too much when I’m running on the treadmill, and the one time I forgot to take my ring off I ended up hitting myself in the face with it. Yeah, diamond to the face = not a good thing.

I usually just work out at home but, when i did go to the gym i would wear it. It’s just so nice and shiny. 🙂

@ Ms. Sorbet – that’s hilarious!! I can totally picture doing that!
@ Entangled – the chain is a great idea!
Thanks guys, I’ll probably leave it at home since it’s only a 15 min walk to the gym and I plan (we’ll see how long that lasts) to use weights when I go.
Y’all are so helpful! =D

It probably depends on what kind of ring you have and how ok you are with it getting damaged too. My rings are only 1/2 eternity so I don’t have to worry about knocking out any diamonds on the bottom or anything. The undersides of them are already all scuffed up so I’m really not concerned about that… and my rings are platinum so I know they don’t lose as much metal when they get scratched as gold. Also… I’m just kind of of the mindset that I’m going to wear my rings always and if they get damaged well… they’ll get fixed. It’s not that I’m not careful or that I don’t care, but I love them and I want to wear them always so I just accept that they may get damaged some day.

I wear it unless I am lifting weights or need to get my hands in something that might make my ring pinch me. Usually I am just doing cardio, spin class, or yoga so I keep it on 🙂 When I do need to take it off I either leave it in the jewelry box at home or I put it on a chain around my neck and tuck it in (might look funny with a tank though!).

My fingers swell up when I am working out (is that normal…hmmn), so I take off all my jewellery.

I wear mine because I feel it’s the safest place for it. At least then I know where it is and what’s happening to it. I do tend to turn the stone toward my palm though, but that’s because I crash into things a lot, and not only at the gym. LOL. I am so clumsy.

I don’t go to the gym but I run outside several times a week and always wear my ring. If I were going to the gym though, I would probably leave it at home. I’d be too worried about banging it on something or it getting in the way on any of the machines.

I never take my e-ring off. It never gets in the way when I’m working out (cardio & strength). I don’t trust my ring to be at my house alone. It also fits me pretty well so it doesn’t slide when I’m working out.

I leave mine at home because my fingers swell a lot, and I don’t want to damage my solitaire banging it around on the machines or the weights. But I also take it off to sleep and to clean, it’s mostly a personal preference.
