My 4-year old FEMALE cousin is going to be our ring bearer. I’m trying to decide what to call her in the program. Currently, I have her listed as “Ring Bearer” but is there a more feminine way to refer to her?

Bearer of the ring? She who bears the ring? lol…Sorry, I’m no help. I think it’s a pretty unisex title though.

I think that Bearer is a gender-neutral title. The position is just usually held by boys so that’s why it seems male.

How about Ring Bearer Princess. That will make her feel more special.

We had a thread like this not too long ago, and I think the general concensus was that “Bearer” is definitely gender-neutral even though a ring bearer is traditionally a boy. I mean if you think about it, it’s just using the verb “bear” as in to bear something… “we come bearing gifts” for example.
But I think adding a feminine detail to the title could be cute! Maybe ask the little girl what she’d like to be called! 🙂 I’ve never known a 4 year old girl who would be opposed to being referred to as a princess!! Hehe!

She would like to be the ring princess. Or if you have flower girls, she could be ring girl. Or just ring bearer. Honeestly, just ask her and let her choose.

I was a ring girl when I was a kid and I loved it. I believe they used the phrase “ring girl”. they also had flower girls.
