okay, i just need to vent...

we took my ring in to the jeweller to see if it needed to be resized about a week after my fi proposed, and it was half a size too big. the ring had to be sent to germany for the designer of the setting to resize because it's a unique tension setting that supposedly only the designer can set, and they told us it would take 3-4 weeks...it's been about 3 and a half weeks, and they told us today that it got stuck in customs on the way there and the designer hasn't even gotten it yet! they say the designer will try to go in person to get it and it should just be a few more days, but last thursday they said the same thing to my fi and that we'd have the ring by tomorrow. it's not our jewellers fault, per say, but they definitely haven't been as on top of things/pressuring the designer as much as they should. there's not really anything we can do, they're resizing the ring for free so it's not like we can demand compensation or anything, and it still hasn't been the full 4 weeks they said it could take...my fmil and ffil have been going to this jeweller for over ten years, so we know they're reputable, but still...i have no idea when i'll actually get my ring back Frown

i know i sound like a whiny little brat, but i just want my ring back! before he proposed, i thought i wouldn't care about the ring at all, i would have worn a rubber band. but i love it, and i only got to wear it for a week! i've been wearing an old ring on my ring finger, but it doesn't even fit and it's so not the same thing. i feel so pathetic, but i'm so sad about it and so frustrated! of all the things in the world, this is SO not a big deal, and i feel so, so incredibly lucky to be planning our wedding... but this just stinks!

That does stink! I wasn't without my ring for nearly as long when it was sized, but I was terribly lost without it. Unfortunately there's nothing either the jeweler or the designer can do about customs. It's wretched, but what can you do?

That is lame!! After my engagement this weekend, I noticed that my ring has a little ding in the side which is going to be a problem because it is right where the pave diamonds are set. I am going to have to take it in sooner than later to avoid getting charged for them to fill it. They had to move the prongs and it almost looks like the clamp damaged the side. I have been putting it off because it is totally not fair!!! I JUST got my ring and am not ready to part with it! I feel your pain....

Ah that does really stink! Hopefully you'll get it back sooner or later. We got our ring at Jared, and it only took about 45 minutes to get it size. But I bet my ring surely isn't as fancy as yours, hehehe. Good luck, I am sure it will be PERFECT when you get it back.

Weaverm: that's funny, because I think my ring has a little "smudge/scratch" from the clamp as well. We have full insurance so I will just go get it buffed out sometime. The day after I got my beauty, however, I noticed the jewler had put a big freakin CUT in the platinum head and I went right up there, handed it to the greeter who noticed it after I pointed it out, and the guy in repairs took it and smoothed it out in seconds. It's not quite "perfect" but I certainly can't just *see* it anymore. GRRRR, though...I really wonder sometimes, if I were a jewler, I would have depressive issues because I would DEFINITELY want every single ring to be absolutely PERFECT!!!

i know it is frustrating, but just be patient.  mine took five weeks............ and it was totally worth the wait.    it will be perfect when you get it back.
