I have a solitaire with side stones and I love it.  But I also LOVE the look of a solitaire with a plain band paired with a diamond wedding ring or ring guard.  IMO, if you are going to re-set it into the 2nd one, you should just leave it as it is and get a diamond band.

This is mine:

Love the first ring, but i’m bais cause it looks sort of like mine!  =D  I’m getting a diamond band too, so it’ll look just like the first set you have pictured.

@heyitssamyrae:  Thank you!  There is a matching band that is a smidge wider but I’m 99.9% sure it’s the one I’m going to get.  I’ve seen many beautiful and different rings but I am very classic in what I wear and jewelry so I wanted something and I would love until forever and I like the halos but I’m not sure I will in a few years because I’m SUPER indecisive too, you know?  My band is pave set diamonds with some milligrain on the edge.

i LOVE LOVE the halo with the plain band! its so beautiful and unique. you usually just see halos with pave bands. but maybe im bias because i have a halo/pave band..but i never thought about it with a plain band. i am in love!

you could even get a thin pave wedding band and it would look beautiful

here is my ring πŸ™‚

@heyitssamyre:  Thank you! That sounds like a plan!  You should go to a jewelry store and try everything on.  Hope you find what you want!

I think if you are already thinking about changing the setting you should do it now earlier than later. You can maybe even melt down the original setting and apply it to the new setting. I was originally planning on a solitare but then we decided we wanted something with a little more personality to it. We went with a halo and plain shank so it looks like a solitare from afar but isn’t and is much more detailed up close.

But between the two…. Goodness! This is soooo hard! I have a halo and plain shank so I love that look to really balance the ring. But I really like the look of the set of the first one you pictured…. ahhh… I think both are GREAT options but final vote is for Number 1 ! Although I think you couldn’t go wrong with either! Keep us updated.

Here is my halo plain shank. I LOVE LOVE it!!! It’s a round halo and not a cushion like you have pictured so in case you were interested in a round halo this look may work for you too.
