I’ve read many a post here in the past because I find it’s a wonderful place to get genuine, thoughtful opinions (and OH the pictures!), but I just set up the account to ask this specific question:
I am hoping for a proposal sometime in the new year (fingers crossed) and as I am a little bit of an obsessive researcher, I’ve been looking at rings like crazy, just trying to figure out what I actually want. My beau will be going back to school soon (he just got out of the Army) so I know the budget will be limited. As I care not a lot about carat, but a lot about quality, I decided that a diamond would probably not be in the cards for us. I settled on morganite (I love the peachy-pink color, especially with a rose gold) and found a setting that I love (pic attached) I was imagining the center stone as morganite. I also love the oval shape because I have very long, thin fingers and it really looks the best on me.
THEN I remembered that my mom had told me that I get to have my grandmothers diamond, I had assumed it was probably not something I would want (very foolish) and today I asked to see it. It is lovely! Very good color and cut and if I had to guess I’d say around .75 carats, the one probalem is that it’s round.
I’m wondering if you think the setting I love would look good with a round stone, adjusting the proportions of the surrounding stones accordingly. I really love the antique0ish look of it, so if you have any ideas that you think may strike me that way as will, I would love to see them.
Thank you very much bees!
