So, welcome our ring bearer:
Yup, that right, the dog. Now, Mr. B has had few requests throughout the wedding process and so, I try to accommodate these requests. But, having this adorable pooch as our ring bearer is a little hard to swallow. However, it would not be fair to Mr. B to post this without first sharing a little background:
When Mr. B and I first started dating, this dog, Max, was his dog. When we went camping one summer with his family, my family decided to take him in for the week. Well, Max has separation anxiety and not only chewed through my parent’s wall, ripped off the moulding around the door, and chewed the brand-new door nobs, but he broke through a screen and ran away. Now don’t worry, he was found safe and sound a few miles away (thank goodness for small towns!) Well, when this became a common occurence in Mr.B’s house because of his work schedule, my family decided to adopt him. So what crazy family would take in a dog that destroyed their house just 3 years prior? THIS GIRL’S!
Fast forward to present day. Max has calmed down and my family loves him, and really, he is a good representation of our two families coming together. So what are my reservations? Let me count them:
~Max is getting old and my wedding is still a little over a year away (morbid I know but it is something that needs to be considdered)
~How will he handle to ceremony? I do not want him barking and distracting from the whole thing.
~What will we do with him for the reception since we are doing a combined ceremony/reception? It is outside however.
~IT IS A DOG! Any number of things could go wrong!
I have tried to comprimise with Mr.B, like what about a real ring bearer walk Max down the isle? Nope, he is not willing to budge, but how can I get mad when he will let me have just about whatever else I want, no matter how pink and sparkly!
So, do you have a non-traditional ring bearer? How did you handle your Fiancee’s strange requests?
