They look similar to me but I prefer the ovals to be honest.

That is a gorgeous ring.  Love the double prongs.  I think it looks better w oval stones.

I think its normal to doubt.  I ALWAYS wanted a square cut solitaire ring.  Then i stared looking for my ring and was looking at diamond bands and pave and channel this and asscher cut and blah blah. Its easy to get confused.

In the end, after trying on rings, i went back to the original square cut diamond (princess or radient) and i love it. Because i realized that its what i wanted all along and i know 40 years down the road i will still love it.

Go with your heart.

The cuts look so similar because both stones are elongated.  I hardly noticed the difference!  //  It is normal to have tiny pangs of doubts.  As long as you’re not having total meltdowns and are very upset.  I think you’re a-ok.

I actually prefer that ring design with the oval stones. It’s a GORGEOUS ring and I’m sure you will love it once it’s on your finger!

LOVELY ring!  I prefer the first one as well, and love that you are getting a ruby.

Having second thoughts is completely normal – hell, sometimes I wish I got a ruby too 🙂  You will love what he proposes with, no worries!

I like the first one better.  It’s normal to have second thoughts as to whether or not you made the right decision.

@GoddessDivine:  I think when you spend too much time fixating on anything, it becomes overwhelming.

The ring is very important to me as well and I’ve gone back and forth on what I want as well.

I started out with wanting a simple round brilliant solitaire on a thin platinum band, but then when I tried some on, I was disappointed.

I then fell in love with a pave halo cushion cut ring, but I decided that I’d rather have something simpler with a larger stone (this ring is a Birk’s, one of Canada’s most expensive jewelers)

I am now coveting a yellow diamond radiant cut solitaire on a thin platinum band.

The only thing that has stayed the same is the platinum band!

I question myself and then I see so many pretty rings that I get distracted. I have ALWAYS loved yellow diamonds, though, and after a few months I am still wanting one, badly.

I also think that micropave halo might be too fussy for me – I apply hand cream like 10x a day and am quite clumsy, I see it getting wrecked. I do love the simplicity of a solitaire on a thin plain band.

*Sigh*

So basically what I am saying is that I think you are totally normal. I think both oval & cushion would look nice!

For what it’s worth, I TOTALLY think the ovals are the best shape for this ring design. It’s going to be gorgeous!

Both are beautiful and only slightly different to my eye! Enjoy which ever one you decide.

I think it’s beautiful! I love the ruby center stone.
