The best thing to do is to go to a jewelry store and try on some rings to see how look on your finger in real life. Anything that is said here will only be opinion.

A wider band will make your rock look smaller by comparison. I would just get the setting you love- because theres no trickery (except a halo) that will make a smaller diamond, on a larger finger, look the same as a bigger diamond on a smaller finger.

1.25 is a great size diamond for a size 6! Itll look great!

Ahh I see- okay makes much more sense! I am no good at math but I think… your finger is about 30% bigger so your band width should be that much more that 2.5.

So… 3.25 . Right?

But honestly I would stick with 2.5 or 2 even because I think the proportion to the diamond is more important- but it’s up to you what your priority is!

MrsGtoBe39:  I’m a little confused about what you are asking, so disregard if I’m getting things wrong. I am assuming you are referring to ring width like this

in which case, why would your ring size have anything to do with it? Wouldn’t that have more to do with finger length as far as how much ‘finger coverage’ you are going to get with a certain 2.5 mm ring? So someone with shorter fingers is going to get more finger coverage from a certain width ring than someone with longer fingers. I hope this is making sense . . .

As PP said, trying on rings is the only way to see exactly what you prefer. Then measure the ring width of the rings that you like.
