I think you should return the new setting; take your diamond and wedding band elsewhere.  Find the setting that you love with a lot better quailty since you have already had such a problem with Jared’s.

FYI we originally placed my wedding set on layaway with them but cancelled it a $100 a way from paying it off since they had become such assholes to us.  I was over the crap service and hated the thought of coming to see them every 6 mos.  I would rather have a pap smear.

soontobe_mrs_k:  I say return the ring setting and bail on Jared’s.  I know that Zales has a very similar split shank cushion shaped halo.. shop around.  Don’t limit yourself to one store that has already proven so difficult.

I voted to ditch both and GO somewhere completely different. I chose that not because they aren’t beautiful (they are absolutely stunning!) but because Jared is being such a PITA about it. It’s their fault that the original ring is defective, they shouldn’t offer a ring that is defective if they can’t figure out why and address the issue. That’s just common sense. I think that your time and money is much better spent elsewhere. And luckily you have a very versitile wedding band and gorgeous diamond, so I’m certain you won’t have trouble finding something you love.

If it came down to having to chose one or the other, I would go with the new ring. IMO your wedding band is totally lost under the split shank ring, and if it were me, I’d want that sucker standing proud, not hidden away. Good luck with it and keep us updated on which one you choose!

I agree it sounds like a better idea just to go somewhere else, especially when they have been treating you so bad and you don’t seem that excited about the new ring. I think your original ring was very beautiful and I agree the second one doesn’t have the same effect.

I actually really like the look of the new ring and the gap between your e-ring and wedding band…with the old one, it was hard to tell that there was even a wedding band there.

I won against Jared and finally got them to return a fully custom ring they got right and then screwed up and I then took my stone and had another custom ring done for half the original cost so you would have options if you went elsewhere.  I think your original has features that just make it more unique and you’ll always miss it.  And you may not be able to return the band but could argue the diamond isn’t of use since they cannot provide the setting and you want a new band and to be let out of it completely.  Did you finance with them?  That could actually help in getting them to work with you!  I’m so sorry though, been there!!

soontobe_mrs_k:  bring it back get your money back and go else where !!!! You should not have get use to anything your money n heart went into that first ring i would keep the diamond and go to better non chain jeweler i had nightmare stories from kay jeweler which the company that owns that chain also is the company that owns jared and beldon they have horrible service they are all bout the sale there sales ppl are great but there product is just not what it needs to be for the price even with the extended service plan i have read story after story online of brides having the same issues your describing and Zales is worse in my personal experience we got a nice band for my hubby with in a month it was scratched up they messed up and engraved the outer part of his band then offered us a dif ring i said nope this ring meant something to us i took the money back an went to the place i had reset my diamond and i will go though them for my jewelry for now on there prices are better the service is better and they stand behind what they sell they have gone above and beyond to make us happy…this is a very expensive purchase n they should be  jumping though hoops to make it right for you if your not 200% happy go elsewhere nobody should have to go though what you have n then get use to a ring cus they sold you a defective piece !!! I just hate chain jewelry stores i am getting ready to start a post about it cus i am fed up of hearing heartbreaking stories like yours and mine and need i say 1000s more sorry rant over
