Can they physically make the basket smaller so that you don’t see the darkness? Like, just fill in that part with metal?

Would you consider having it bezel set into the basket which would surround the diamond with metal and therefore (I imagine) make it be able to fit into the basket without the gaps? Or do you really love the prong set look?

I would not be happy with how it is, can you imagine how much dirt and the amount of skin cell will accumulate in there? It will be very hard to clean.

prettyinpink11: Maybe it’s not possible to put a smaller diamond in there and the jeweler shouldn’t have told you it was. Either way, I hope for your sake it can be fixed. Don’t settle, if he can’t fix it ask for a refund. Or ask for the ring to be made from scratch with a basket to accommodate your size diamond. Good luck!

I think they should center it like it should be, and than put some white gold in the gaps there.. That will close off all that open space. The stock pic you posted looks like there is actually white gold in all that space, it is just set lower than the prongs it seems. I think that would help.

Pretty ring BTW!

prettyinpink11: Yea he probably cut it out for some odd reason. I would definitely ask that they fill it back in, after centering the diamond. Or, like PP said, get it bezel set in that setting. That would be pretty too! Good luck. When do you go back to the jeweler.

prettyinpink11: They can always add more metal to it. It’s possible for sure. But, the thing is, will they just mess it up more? Ya know.. I would be iffy. I say ask if they can order a new setting from the maker, just order it for your size stone?? That may be a good possibility.

prettyinpink11: Yea.. I would be mad too. I mean, one mess up fine. But, two times already! Come on now. They need to do something better..

prettyinpink11: YEa.. If I were in your shoes, if they couldn’t guarantee to fix it this time, or were not positive about what to do, I would just pick a new setting. So that you don’t have to keep going through this. It’s not right. Just make sure to pick a new setting you truly love. And, I would ask first about the jeweler ordering it to fit your stone. Some places will custom make something for people. You never know til you ask! Good luck when you go. Can’t wait to hear what happens.
