I’m new to the engagement world and I need all the help I can get. I’m not even sure how to organize my questions. I’m a mess!
I’ve been engaged just over a month and I still haven’t picked out a ring. I’m usually a very decisive person, but engagement rings are totally overwhelming!
First off, I have no intention of ever upgrading my ring or getting a new one. I want one ring to last a lifetime. This is very daunting! I also am a bit of a non-conformist (I work with artists/musicians/film makers, I’m not very traditional) so I want something funky and unusual. Picking something unusual AND timeless AND I won’t get sick of it after a few years – it’s a difficult line to walk!
So here’s what I came up with: I love the east west settings! Just the right amount of funky without being too weird, and I don’t think it will ever look dated. I also like the sleek/mod look of the bezel setting. I’ve narrowed it down to 2 James Allen settings:
But I can’t figure out what shape stone I want. Oval or Emerald?
I know I want the center stone to be a sapphire (my birthstone). I always assumed I wanted a white sapphire, but I’m seriously considering the pale pink and the pale yellow and the pale peach/champagne color. Wow! That’s a lot of choices!
So I have 2 potential cuts – Oval or Emerald
And 4 potential colors: white, pink, yellow, peach
How do I decide?!?!?! And how do I make sure I won’t regret it?
Please, any information on picking one ring and never regretting it, I would love! Share pics!
Also, anyone who has shopped for loose sapphire stones – I’d love your advice and Sapphire pics!!
And anyone who worked with James Allen but used your own stone – I’d love to hear from you as well and James Allen pics!!
(FYI – My finger is a size 6 and we’re looking at stones around 8.5mm wide)
