I finally had time to do a glamour-shots of my ring today... so fun! And also really hard to get a GOOD picture because lets face it... no still photo can capture the shimmer and glitz of a ring. I took about 60 pictures... here are the ones that survived. Love them, my ring, and my guy!
Gorgeous! I have yet to take "glamour" shots with my ring...maybe I should do that soon!

Oh well. I'm getting ideas for mine!
when (whatever day that may be..lol!) that happens, I may set up a "boudoir session" for my ring!
hmmmmm maybe i'm super immature but i started of thinking ring + boudoir and i started giggling at the possibilities heh
Hehe..maybe I'll "drape" Miss Scarlett (the ring) when she arrives over a piece of lingerie or something?
I'm not going to lie, I opened this post wondering what in the world it was going to be about lol, but your ring is beautiful and you are so creative! I would have never thought of doing this!!

Don't you just LOVE diamonds? I don't even wear rings but I practically drooled over my e-ring and wedding band.
haha it was so fun to do! although it took me a bit to figure out what to put the ring on... but I ended up with two shirts and some pearls.

@cheerful YES! :) To be honest the whole venue-picking thing is not as fun as I thought it was going to be.... but the ring part is stellar! heh

I've tried taking some of mine-but they don't come out amazing.
@pmerr- it took a while. At first all the pictures came out blurry or the diamond just looked all white. I took a ton of pictures to get just a handful of good ones!
@corgi-yeah-I've taken a ton. I don't know if it's the shape? Not sure if that matters-or my camera-just a kodak point & shoot. I wonder if turning up the mega pixels would help? Although I've never really opened up my ring shots-just saw them on the camera screen-maybe I should check it out & just see if they look good!
@pmerr- yea definitely open them up on the computer to see what you've got! I'd say, take lots of pics in good (preferably natural) light, from slightly different angles. also take them from different distances, because you can also crop closer and sometimes it is easier to focus from farther away. Also try doing it on a variety of backgrounds, the camera definitely had an easier time focusing with the pearls rather than plain satin. Also if you have a photo editing program that helps. I pulled up the highlights slightly and it really cleared the diamond up.
@corgi-thanks for the tips! I'll have to play around again when I'm home by myself so my parent's don't think I'm losing it! haha! I don't own any kind of really nice photo editing program. I mean-I think I have picasa and some HP program that I might still have from my first digital camera-would they do the job? or is Photoshop more what you're talking about?
@pmerr- I use iphoto which is SUPER basic. I would think you could maybe do the same thing on picasa, but if not I know you can do it on flickr with their editing functions. You can post up to 100mb of photos/mo for free on flickr so it is pretty easy to use.
You guys are so precious! I had never thought about that, but maybe I will. I think I should get a better camera first, though. I put my ring on here under another post, but I took pictures with our marketing rep's camera for company pictures. I guess that would be my version of the glamor shots, although I wish the background could be something other than a fake wood desk.
@jelly-bean you can use anything for a cool background. my background for these was two shirts i had haha.
@corgi-thanks!! I'll have to try different things this week!! I'll have to post them up after I look at it @ edit them!! I tried on flowers & on the monkey he got me as my first present...one of those ones that velcro together. I can't wait now!
@pmerr- I can't wait to see the results!! Just don't get frustrated when it seems like you're not getting good shots. I spent like 45 minutes just taking pictures and another 45 minutes weeding through to find a few good ones. They will be in there-- just got to dig for them. Yay for ring porn!

Never get's old looking at rings! I love them all and could stare all day... but there's only 1 i like on me :-)
mmmmmm ring porn :) I need to do glamour shots with mine ;) ;) I haven't yet and it has been 6 months+!!
I took two ring shots the other day. I need to do some more, and some better ones. And maybe pull out the macro lens. I just threw it in there for two shots. :p
@50- I must know more about this ring! I've never seen anything like it before, it's beautiful! It's got no cuts, is it a diamond? It looks so smooth and dreamy, like carrying a bubble on your finger!

@rainbow- It IS so smooth and dreamy! It has no cuts, you're right. :) It's a 9 carat crystal quartz set in sterling. We're little hippies and didn't want to go the traditional diamond route. It's from Tiffany's and by Paloma Picasso. We both did want a Tiffany engagement ring (maybe we're not THAT big of hippies...lol) and Pablo Picasso is my favorite artist, and Paloma is his daughter. I also always joked that I wanted a Buick on my hand-- Didn't have to be a diamond, but wanted it big! I fell in love with instantly, and I just adore it.
I get so many strange looks/comments on it. People seem to be really offended that I don't have a traditional engagement ring. My opinion? Those people can suck it. :p
Edit: Also, I am an artist, so that's why the art part weighed so heavily also. :p
I never have luck uploading pictures, but we'll see if this works!
