We bought my FI’s ring this summer and it fit perfectly.
well he just tried it on again and it is waaaay to big. Like a hard shake if the hand and he will lose it! Apparentlyhe fluctuates a whole ring size between summer and winter! I know there are options out there for girls with this problem, but I don’t know much about them (I.e. are there non permenant solutions?) and I am not sure which would be best for this situation. I assume his ring will fit again in the summer so I don’t want to get him a different one (material can’t be sized). Any other bees have this problem with their man? How did you fix it?

@Utopia4us: your wedding is in cancun so the ring should fit him just fine in the heat during your wedding. tell him not to wear it in the water though.
have you considered getting him a band for the winter and cold months? they have some really inexpensive metal rings for men. get one that is a bit smaller than his current band. it’s better than losing his ring all of the time and always replacing them.

A watch repair/jewelry repair shop can put in a “ring guard” for about $10. It’s a semi-permanent ring sizer. Have it taken back out when the ring feels too snug.

I have the same problem– my ring finger ranges from 4.5 to 6. I don’t wear my ring in the water and it is fine. I would see if you can exchange it to half a size smaller (I went from 6 to 5.5). It may be loose in the winter, but not fall of your finger loose. Similarly, it may be tight in the summer, but not too tight.

Thank you for the suggestions! I will be checking out these ideas to figure out the best one for the situation
@mypinkshoes: you are absolutely right, this is something I don’t need to seriously worry about until we get back. Thank you for the perspective I have to admit, I’m starting to get a wee bit spazzy….

I have an eternity ring on the other side of my wedding band to keep it from falling off. I wear 4 rings that all fit except my wedding band. I bought it wayyy too big. I am going to have it made smaller, so it is never in danger of falling off.
A guy friend I know has the same problem. He bought another band (a little thinner) than his wedding band (plain white gold) and wears it in the winter months. In the summer he doesn’t need to worry unless he goes swimming. He just slips on the smaller band and away he goes! (It looks really nice too)

I should have mentioned he wears both bands at the same time. Cool look actually.

@womanofsubstance: that’s a great idea, but I don’t think he’ll go for it. The only rings he liked werthe I cobalt ones like the one we ended up with. Everything else “felt too heavy”
