    Congrats! I know how you feel about not telling people. We decided in August we would get married, but didn’t mention it until October. I didn’t get my ring (or a properly romantic proposal) until December! And our wedding is in March. It’s been a bit whirlwind for us. Good luck!

    @tarapaul2016:  Congratulations! I highly suggest you head over to the rockytalk forum on pricescope.com. Diamond fanatics and people who work in the industry will help you pick the perfect diamond and setting for your budget and they frequently recommend James Allen.

    To answer your question: Quality > Size 100%! You can compromise on a few things like color and clarity, but cut is the absolute most important and will make the difference between a big dull rock and a stunning sparkler very obvious.

    @tarapaul2016:  my ring was from them! they were awesome! i did not want a white gold or yellow gold ring so they took a mold of the ring i liked, and made it in rose gold (no extra charge either!). i’m still waiting on my proposal so i havent seen the finished product, although they did send my SO a video when they finished the ring. my diamond is .50 E VVS1 and it is gorgeous! they were very helpful at helping me select the stone too! what ring are you looking at?

    My stone is a little out of your requested category, but I just wanted to say congratulations!  And I would definitely pick quality over size.  A nice quality diamond looks bigger than it actually is in my opinion! 🙂

    @tarapaul2016:  Ha, my date is just a guess because I am still patiently waiting (just “celebrated” 4yrs 11mo yesterday!) but I’m hoping for late summer/early fall wedding! I really like the setting you picked out! I’m sure it will turn out perfect 🙂

    @tarapaul2016:  That setting is beautiful!

    My DH bought my diamond from Blue Nile and he had a really good experience with them.  Since he bought a princess, it’s a shape that you definitely have to see in person.  They were easy to work with and if he didn’t like the diamond, he was able to send it back to exchange it, no questions asked.  He was very happy with the first one they sent him so he kept it.

    I only bring this up to make you feel better if you do decide to use Blue Nile.

    @tarapaul2016:  im sure they can do it! and in my experience, diamonds and settings are more reasonable from them vs. blue nile anyway. i hope it works out for you! and i don’t think i will be waiting much longer…in fact he was going to propose this weekend but the snow storm has me stuck in VA while he is in NC 🙁 but once i have it i will def post a pic!

    @tarapaul2016:  I think I read that article! If it’s the one I’m thinking of, it was a great read and it’s awesome that it had such a positive impact on your relationship!
