- Wedding: March 2012
Ok Bees! I need your help. My husband purchased my wedding band about a month before the wedding. Basically, I settled for something, and we both knew this at the time. I had a hard time picking out an e-ring. I’m really picky, and just didn’t like anything. I finally found something about a week or so before the wedding, but it took a few weeks to really be done. So I purchased my wedding band without ever picking out my e-ring. This is my wedding band:
It’s cute, we didn’t spend a ton on it, and it definitely doesn’t match my ering. My husband was FULLY aware before we purchased my ering that there was an almost certain possibility that I wouldn’t like my wedding band with it. He said it was no big deal and that we could upgrade the band–that’s why we picked out a cheaper band.
I also don’t like how they feel together. They don’t sit flush, and if i spin one of the rings it squeaks–kind of like nails on a chalk board…ugh! I can’t stand it.
So my husband agreed that I can definitely upgrade the band. However, he and my mother have different opinions on this and I’m stuck in the middle!!
My mother wants me to get the matching band, which I REALLY like, and it would definitely sit flush, and I don’t think there would be a squeak.
My mother is REALLY pushing me to get the matching band, but my husband wants to get me something custom. We’re nerdy and he wants to do a custom band that looks like the Stargate (yes from Stargate SG1). It would have rubies in it, as well as symbols engraved on it. I’m not sure how expensive this would be, or if someone could really even engrave 26 symbols on a ring! I mean, don’t get me wrong I am LOVING this idea, I think it’s great. But would it work? For those of you non-nerdy people…this is what the Stargate looks like.
See all those symbols?? I’m not sure they could do that on a ring. So I’m thinking it would be simplified to 7 V-shaped rubies, I know that is do-able. We could get it custom-fit so that it would sit flush, and hopefully no squeeking. However, we won’t be able to afford much until next year, and I don’t want to wait a year to get rid of the squeaking.
And now…because my mother is pushing the matching band on me, he’s being overly sensitive. He says we can do whatever I want, but I think he secretly wants me to just wait. He is also being extra touchy about the current wedding band, and wants me to continue wearing it (even if it’s just on my right hand) after we get the new band…which is fine. I like it, I just don’t like it sitting next to my ering. Also…while I am at work I switch one ring to my right hand, and switch it when I get home, because I know he wants to see both rings on my left finger…but I play with them! lol I can’t help it, I stare at them, play with them, and spin them, and they squeak when together. I know that’s weird!
Since my mother is paying I suggested that I keep the current wedding band on my right hand, then add the new one to my left hand. We are having a big wedding reception in Sept 2013 (We got married March 7th 2012, and had a small ceremony so my sick vavo could attend). I asked him if we could use the custom band for the Sept 2013 vow renewal/wedding. I can either wear all 3 rings (his ring, matching ring, and ering) on my left hand, and the original on my right hand, or I can switch the matching band out for the band he will custom make me.
I don’t know, what should I do? Should I just suck it up and wait til Sept 2013 to get the new band? Or should I get the matching band? Or should I get the matching band, and wait for 2013 to switch it out? I really hate being stuck in the middle of all of this!!
UGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Need some advice bees! Sorry this was LONG!
