Mine also sits really high (prolly an inch or so high) it tends to slide around even though it’s sized right because it’s so top heavy. I do tend to knock it off a wall or something every once in awhile but it’s never hurt it. But I love mine and wouldn’t trade it for a lower setting.

Literally just took this so excuse the terrible picture quality, but here is a side view and a from above view of my ring (the center is between 2.5-3 on a 6.5ish finger for scale, sorry I can’t remember the specifics)

It is high and sometimes I end up whapping it into things, but you get used to the height. Like you said, at a certain size, unless you want to go with a bezel or some modified setting to lower it, there is only so low you can go. Full disclosure, I often don’t wear it around the house so I sometimes foget to put it on when running out for errands. I still wouldn’t change it, though.

@chillinchillin:  I think my ring sits pretty high, but I never really find it awkward.  I don’t wear it to work, though … I work in a chemistry lab and I’m constantly changing my gloves, so I think it would get in the way a lot if I did wear it all the time.  If I worked a desk job or something similar, it wouldn’t be an issue.

Here are a couple of pictures:

For reference, my diamond is 0.75 ct and I’m a size 4.25.

@nambi_pambi:  Thank you!  It’s an emerald cut, yes.  Someone else on another thread once asked me if I had a halo, and I honestly never considered it to be one until she brought it up.  Haha.  I’m not sure exactly what it’s called since I don’t consider it a “traditional” halo.  The center diamond sits above the diamonds around the sides … Maybe this is a bloom?  I’m not really sure what the correct terminology is.  Clearly.  Haha.

Mine is cathedral mounted, so it is somewhat high.

My ring is a 1.55 carat solitaire. Before we got engaged I was kind of adamant about not having a “ring pop” ring, so I totally hear where you’re coming from. My setting is kind of intense, but it doesn’t really stop that much light coming through, it still sparkles like crazy. I spoke to the jeweler and he said he does it intentionally to make it more solid.  I don’t get it caught on things and it really doesn’t bang around or anything, I think it’s a good size and not too “ring pop”-ish.

Here’s a couple photos.

@chillinchillin:  I 100% hear you.  With my Ering this was  of major concern , however didn’t like a bezel setting or one so low that hid the beauty of the diamond and it’s sparkle.  At first there was a bump or two but now I’m so acutely aware of the height n weight that this very seldom happens. I just take her off when doing odd things around the house.  Here’s an idea of my side view n height…. Bear in mind pics are large. Can’t resize the silly things lol

Ering is currently a 1.75 ct diamond center pave setting of 0.52 cts
