In the 3-4 months that I’ve started a new job, gotten married, and gone off hormonal birth control (not TTC, not pregnant, just went off it for an unrelated reason). I have gained about 10 lbs. My fingers seem to have swollen like crazy in that time! I used to be a size 4 on my left hand, and have my rings sized as 4.5 due to ring claustrophobia. Now they leave indents on fingers, and for the first time ever I have ring muffin top! I can barely even get them off anymore. Size 5 RHRs I own are now much more comfortable. Now, it’s really not that much weight, and it doesn’t show on me as I’m fairly tall, 5’7″, and I carry it well- ie. I’ve gone up a cup size. So how is this possible??? Has anyone else experienced this? Is there something else going on here, other than weight gain? My finger size really shouldn’t go up by a whole size from gaining just 10 lbs, should it? :/ This is really bugging me because one of my rings is antique and delicate, and the other is eternity, so they’d be a real b**** to resize, if it’s even possible. 🙁

Is it possible going off hormonal BC is making you bloat? My fingers swell a LOT when i eat a lot of salt or if I drink alcohol or am boating from PMS. Like, my ring goes from almost being too big and spinning to the side to having the muffin top overnight.
Maybe go low sodium for a couple days and drink a lo of water and see if it feels better? Or maybe just go up half size!

@MrsSnowMountain: hm, it is weird since it’s also really cold right now. It may just be swelling and your body adjusting to being off HBC, especially if you were on BC for a long time.
Are you rings uncomfortable to wear for now?

Yes, I’m guessing it was going off BC that did it, I was indeed wondering if others’ had similar experiences so I could confirm my theory.
They’re not exactly uncomfortable, but they are leaving indents. I can get them off under running water.
Thanks for the tip, I have been drinking TONS of water on this suspiscion for the last few weeks, but so fair it’s not doing any good 🙁
I’m really hoping I don’t have to resize my ring! Damn, WHY did I go with eternity? :/ Is this even resizeable?

@MrsSnowMountain: It’s certainly possible. At about 108 lbs I had a size 4 ring in the past (hs). At about 120 lbs, I have a size 5 ring. It doesn’t continue “growing” exponentially with weight gain, but I do experience great changes in finger size when I lose or gain weight.
