I just wanted to get some opinions on ring size. We bought my ring overseas on a hot, humid day and I though the fit was perfect. But after trying it on in cooler weather I find that it spins very easily and can be pulled off with almost no effort. I’m trying to decide whether it’s worth it to have the ring sized down (it’s a full eternity band) and they would have to take out a diamond – which would most likely leave a small gap in diamonds along the back side.
Do most of you have snug fitting rings or prefer it to be looser for easier removal?

I like looser rings. My ring size test is very scientific. I shake my hand a few times and see if the ring flies off my finger. If it does, it’s too loose!

@mrswedding16: The jeweler sized me at a 6, but I specifically chose to order a 6.5. My ring is snug when it’s hot and humid, when I’m at the beach, and in the morning when my fingers are swollen. It spins the majority of the time but cannot actually fall off my finger. Although the spinning annoys me, and I constantly am straightening my ring, I couldn’t stand to have my ring feeling extra tight on those other occasions.

That’s normal. Fingers will vary over different situations. Damn living things, lol.
Mine is a little pinchy/muffin toppy at very tightest and somewhat concerningly loose at the other end of things, but on an average day it sits happily upright without pinching at all, like it was made for my finger (which, incidentally, it was…lol). I think that’s the best I could possibly expect the interaction between a non-living metal band and my real finger to go 🙂

I would just get sizing balls. That should fix it for you

@mrswedding16: I think I would leave it. You don’t want to resize it and then feel like it’s too tight when you get hot.

I was sized in the spring of 2012 for a 5.25 so we ordered a 5.25. I’ve had it since fall 2012, through all seasons now and never had a problem with it fitting. It fits the same no matter the time of day or year. I don’t actually sleep in it for fear of the swelling factor.

Mine spins a bit, but I kind of prefer that because I like turning it around easily if need be. I don’t always want to show it off 🙂 I have small fingers but kind of big knuckles, so it’s basically sized to fit over my knuckle but be slightly loose on my finger. It definitely fits more snugly in the summer (now!).

I have arthritis…and in my hands i find the same thing happens to me
i can go from a size N to an L in winter!
I have mine half sized so its currently a UK M and a half.
This means its not too tight and its not gonna fly off anytime soon, either!

mine spins like crazy but is perfect when its hot – and after I work out or forget to take it off while sleeping I cannot get it off to save my life.
I probably could have gone down a 1/4 size but im glad i didnt – it still wont slip off when its spinning since my knuck is large enough to prevent that – but if I got pregnant and it it became perma-stuck I think that would suck.
As long as there is no risk for it slipping off I would just leave it as is.

My ring is a little loose and hangs at a weird angle when I’m cold but I’m scared to get it sized even smaller because it feels snug when I feel hot or warm. I have a large knuckle, which is another reason I wouldn’t get it sized smaller.

If its an eternity band there is no “safe” way to size that ring. Some jewelers will say they can size it but you will foever be dealing with loose diamonds if you size it. U can do 1 of 2 things if it worries you sizing balls or of they r uncomfetable for you you can have the shank built up a tiny bit. talk to your jeweler and ask more then one so you know you are talking to someone highly skilled (there are alot of sortof skilled jewelers out there). I worked in jewelry for a long time and I have seen more diamonds fall out for the sizing reason then almost any other.

I’d say hold off on resizing until you start wearing a wedding band as well. I’m really a 5.25, but have a 5.5 ring. When I tried it on with a wedding band it’s not as loose (doesn’t spin as much).
I’m not in any danger of it falling off though, even with my small ring size I have “meaty” knuckles.
One of my friends actually had little sizing beads attached. That should maintain the integrity of your ring and help with the size. It looks something like:

@mrswedding16: this happened to me too. i had it sized down and had no problems. its back to hot and humid and it feels fine. although, at the end of my last pregnancy, i had to take it off.
