honestlawyer :  I would have unfollowed the jeweler after you know he was in the process of making your ring just in case.  But even in person it will still look different from the video.

Can you share the jeweler? I want to see 😁  is that weird to have people seeing your ring before you even have it yet? If it is then disregard my nosiness lol

Nothing has been “ruined”. I picked out my ring, so I knew what it was going to look like and it didn’t take anything away from the proposal. The proposal is not about the ring, it is about agreeing to spend the rest of your life with someone.

Ruined is a bit much. Photos and videos are nice but nothing beats seeing your ring on your hand.

I wouldn’t go as far as ruined. My ring was custom made and I saw it before the proposal…granted it was in pieces and assembled on my finger with the stone to get my approval before finalizing but like other bees have said…nothing beats when you see it in person. I was still in complete awe of how beautiful it was when the proposal came.

It was however not smart of that jeweler to post it without first confirming it was in possession of the person that will be wearing it. Definitely something you should bring up to them later on so they don’t do that again.

I think saying its ‘ruined’ is way OTT. The jeweller doesnt owe you or your BF anything. S/he made an item, and if it turned out well, they want to show it off to get more business. Just because you were checking instagram doesnt mean they werent tactful. Plus, many guys have the ring for weeks/months before proposing. Unless your bf and the jeweller had a contract that they wouldnt post it until after receiving confirmation of a proposal, its a really silly thing to be upset about.

I knew what my ring looked like (now DH left the confirmation email up on our shared computer *facepalm*), but it was still amazing when he proposed – don’t worry, it’ll still be special. And yes, post the insta! We want to see!

It will still be a surprise. A picture or video isn’t the same as seeing it in real life. Even though the ring may be completed, you still don’t know when you’ll actually be engaged. It will be ok!

Haha! It happens. I’ve seen mine too because James Allen sent me an email with a link to my ring’s webpage with a picture of my actual completed ring. I told my boyfriend and he was like “oh, that doesn’t matter, you still haven’t seen the REAL thing!” so luckily it won’t affect either of our feelings when he actually proposes!

did you buy the stone and take it to set by the jeweler- or did you buy the whole thing from the jeweler? If it was your stone then I’d make a big stink on their IG and FB pages! Not only did not have permission to post your property, but it’s misleading to other potential customers by saying “we sell this product” when they only actually sell 50% of it.
