I just found out that the wedding bands my SO and I are ordering come in two different thicknesses – 1.5mm and 2mm. This isn’t referring to the rings’ width – we’ve already planned on getting a 6mm wide ring for him and a 3mm wide ring for me. Here’s what the jeweler’s website says:
“We make two weight/price point comfort fit wedding rings. A 1.5mm Thick, what we call our standard weight and a 2mm thick heavyweight style. Both are popular and just beautiful.”
There is a $40 price difference between the thicker 6mm ring and the thinner 6mm ring.
Is there that much of a difference in feel between 1.5mm and 2mm thickness? That doesn’t seem like it would be enough to notice really. But if they are noticeably different, which one would be more comfortable, the lighter or the heavier one? What are your and your FI’s preferences?
