i like white gold too. ^_^ but i think it might be because it's in fashion right now, when our childern get married maybe another color might be popluar either yellow gold again or heck maybe copper or even something else... clear maybe? ^_^
I always thought I wanted white gold, but ended up choosing yellow gold. I think it looks better with my skin tone, anyway, though. :)
The fiance is going to end up getting something like tungsten or silver colored though... Gold wouldn't fit him.
I always thought wanted platinum, but when I tried one on, I didn't like how much heavier it was than gold. I'm still not quite sure how I ended up falling in love with yellow gold, but I did!
I love white gold...I love how it makes the diamonds super sparkly. I don't know if yellow gold would have the same effect.
My e-ring is platinum, and both of our wedding bands will be platinum as well.
I love yellow gold. It is more of a traditional look and it works better with my skin tone. The white gold didnt look as stunning to me on my finger. As a child I saw my mom with a gold band and always admired her ring. I guess thats why I love yellow gold for my rings. I like silver and white gold for everything else though!
I like white gold because I wear silver more. I liked the color/shine of it more than any other color.
White gold, I think its beautiful. I also loveeee yellow but it just doesn't go with my skin tone.
I am a white gold girl - I can't wear yellow gold it looks awful against my skin tone it makes me look greenish. It sucks because I can't even wear gold costume jewelry or yellow gold jewelry that my grandma gave me.
I'm surprised how few bees chose platinum rings! I always knew I wanted platinum because I prefer silver-colored jewelry - not a big fan of yellow gold at all. I love my platinum e-ring, and we are both getting platinum wedding rings as well.
I love all metals: yellow, white & rose gold, platinum, etc. My e-ring is platinum because at one point I had said to my then-BF that "all e-rings should be platinum" but I was confused at the moment -- it's the prongs holding a diamond that should be platinum! But I love, love, love my platinum ring, looking forward to the patina -- I think it will give it character! Of course the band will be platinum, too. Platinum is simply a more durable metal than gold. Gold loses mass over years of banging the ring, so the shank often needs to be reinforced. No such problem with platinum, and I do plan on wearing my e-ring and band for many, many years :)
I love yellow gold because I've always wanted a classic yellow gold wedding band and because I actually think it makes the diamond stand out more against the band. I wear both gold and white gold/silver in other jewellery so it's not that one suits me better, but for some reason white gold and platinum just make me think of silver which doesn't feel as special in my head compared to yellow gold!
i love yellow gold jewelry and it's pretty much all i wear, but for my engagement/wedding rings, white gold is it. i don't know why. wait, yes i do. i don't like the look of sapphire with yellow gold.
I didn't have any say in my e-ring (was a complete surprise, we NEVER talked about rings beforehand), and FH picked yellow gold. I probably would have gone with platinum, but I love the yellow gold now. I get a lot of compliments on it too - the dress lady said she very rarely sees yellow gold anymore, so it's makes my yellow gold feel kind of special, when I had always thought of yellow gold (prior to getting the ring!) as "plain".
I like all kinds of jewelry. I own items that are silver, white gold, yellow gold, etc.
My engagement ring is platinum though.
My FI chose a platinum e-ring for me and I'm in love with it! I definitely want a platinum band. I love how whenever I hand my ring to someone (well, pretty much just my jeweler or my mother), they say "Wow, it's got some weight to it, huh!"
My diamond is mounted in plat but the rest of my ring is white gold. We both chose white gold because it doesnt seem to dull as quickly. And, when it does get dull it can easily be buffed again.. plat seems to go "flat" and stay "flat."
funny- i just wrote about this on my blog today! While both our engagement rings are silver in color (white gold/platinum) we both want gold incorporated into our wedding bands...I'm super excited about my gold/white gold daisy band and C will most likely be sporting a simple yellow gold band. Any other mixed metal brides out there?
I guess I was born to have expensive taste- I am allergic to gold (white and yellow), so platinum it is for me!
Platinum! I like its durability.
My husband's original wedding band was platinum as well. He now wears tungsten carbide. It's a much better fit for his active lifestye.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my ring-hubs did an excellent job and the band is actually a band from my mother with 20 channel-set diamonds. I would have chosen yellow gold either way because it reminds me of romanticism and tradition. :) What did you choose and why?
*There is no 'right answer' here and I think that if we all talk about WHY we love what we love, regardless of carats, yellow, white, platinum, gemstone, etc. then we can help ease other people's worries and let eachother know that there is no 'right ring'-we're all different!
Here are our rings at the Grand Canyon during our Honeymoon Road Trip :)!
