Riviera Maya

posted 7 months ago in Honeymoons

Hi!

My fiance and I have planned and booked our mid-August honeymoon for Riviera Maya. It's definitely too late to change anything, but I'm beginning to worry a bit about the weather now that I've found a few extra articles regarding the rainy season. Does anyone know or have experience visiting that area in late summer? If so, I'd also love any recommendations! We're staying in a cabana (without electricity!) in Tulum for two nights, then five nights at an all inclusive in Puerto Morelos so we get a taste of two extremes-one place will be really chill/low key and the other will be more luxurious.

Thanks guys!

I would be more worried about the fact that it's hurricane season. Is that area within the hurricane belt? We are getting married mid-August as well and totally ruled out the east coast of Mexico for this very reason...

I was in just in Tulum last fall (late October) and it was fairly rainy then.  Like storms and streets flooded with water, fairly rainy.  We were told it was the tail end of the wet season, but it was more then I expected and I'm from the Pacific Northwest known for 9 out of 10 days being rainy.

Bring a good waterproof jacket, insect repellent, and enjoy (it's worth it!)!

i've been to cancun a couple of times in mid aug b/c we have a timeshare there.  and i think the weather just depends!  my first time, it was rainy and stormy (mainly at night) but the rain didn't affect our trip too much.  the days were beautiful and gorgeous.  the 2nd and 3rd time i went, there was no rain at all.  just lovely weather all around.  however, my friend went in mid aug a few years ago and had to evacuate her hotel b/c of a hurricane....so you can't know for sure and we can't predict the weather!

and since you can't change anything now, just have fun and enjoy each other's company!
