Has anyone ordered their dress from RK Bridal? Does someone help you with your dress and your measurements or anything like that? Thanks

Are you looking for wedding dresses or bridesmaids/mother of the bride dresses?

I shopped for my wedding dress there and had a WONDERFUL experience.  I did go on a random Tuesday in the afternoon, I hear weekends are really crazy.  They don't take appointments but you sign a list when you arrive and are assigned a consultant on a first come/first served basis.  They encourage you to go around and select dresses you are interested in as well as they bring you dresses they think you will like.  If you order they will take your measurements, etc.  They even have in house alterations at what I thought was a reasonable price.  Once you have a consultant you can make an appointment directly with the consultant on any return visits you may have (no need to wait in line again).

That is just for wedding dresses.  Bridesmaids and Mother of the Brides are all on their own to go through the racks.  On weekdays I believe you can try the dresses on, weekends I am not so sure.  I think they are dresses you buy on the spot, no need to get measured.

    I hope this helps you!

Yes thanks. I am going to look for my wedding dress. I just hope they have the Maggies dresses that I am loving at the moment.

Did you go there. Was there someone that you could recommend that I work with? Or is that not possible since they don;t take appts?

I went to RK Bridal in NYC in May 2009 for my first bridal dress outing so I can only speak to the in-person experience. First, it was late on a Saturday afternoon so it was probably the worst time to go.I would suggest going early because it seemed as if there wasn't much worth looking at on the rack but then again it is really difficult figuring out the look of a dress through a clear plastic bag. There was a huge range in service. My gal seemed as if she just wanted me to try something on so I would leave. But my friend, another bride-to-be, got an older woman who was engulfed in finding her a good gown (she is petite) because all the ones she chose were not right for her. I would suggest going to RK Bridal with an exact style (model number and all) or just focusing on a specific designer. It is a bit overwhelming just pulling what you think looks good on the rack because it will not be what you expect. RK does sell a lot of gowns and seems to be a reputable vendor. There was a number of girls setting up their fitting appointments and purchasing dresses.

One of the dresses I liked was a Maggie, to give you an idea of $ it was style A3016 and was $901.  I see we are all from NJ in my shopping experiences remember if you shop in NYC you pay NYC tax.  It is much higher than in NJ sometimes $100+ dollars difference.  Plus you have to schlep into NYC for fittings.

I worked with Aisha who really was wonderful.  She asked my budget (I told her $3000) and she was like...oh no, not for one day.  Let me see if I can save you some money on your budget.  Now that was exactly what I wanted to hear and in fact that is what she did.  In looking back at my notes to get you her name, she also wrote...alterations under $350.  Please understand that I am 4 ft 8 so I needed MAJOR alterations to any dress I bought.

Personally based on my height (and weight) is why I decided to have my dress made and I didn't buy it in a store.  But it was the dress that Aisha showed me that was the inspiration for the dress I am having made as she was the only one who took my height into consideration.   She also didn't bring in any dress that didn't close on me which made it much easier for me to see how they looked.

Good luck on your search!  PM me with your experience and final decision I would love to hear about it!
