Aw...what a great idea! I hope some folks jump on board!
Stop in Charlottesville for lunch! Don't forget about the J.Crew stores I mentioned on the other thread!
@Jeannine @ Small Chic: I hope so too. Thanks for all the info. I'm a little pessimistic because I'm a street size 14 but ya never know.
If I don't find anything on Saturday when I go, I wouldnt mind going with you. I live in the Dc area
@NJmeetsBX: So, you're probably an 18 or 20 in bridal. Most samples are 10s or 20s (to cover the most people possible, I guess), so you'll find tons of 20s. :)
@Jeannine @ Small Chic: yippeeee!!!
@TiaraLC: good luck this weekend! let me know how it goes!
@NJmeetsBX: Hey, if you're willing to go on a Saturday insteady, I'm up for it! I'm planning on going August 13th & I live in the Arlington, VA area, so if any Bees want to travel with me, I've got 3 open spots in my car!
@NJmeetsBX: When are you thinking of coming down? I could possibly go with you, but would need advance notice to take time off work, plus the next 3 weeks are crazy...
You might try the NoVa board too.
I got my dress there and it was amazing! There are actually two sister stores; Church Street Couture has the high end designers - pretty much all from Kleinfeld - and Church Street Bridal has a much larger inventory of great dresses that were originally in the range of maybe 800-2000 or so. I love my dress from there! Only issue was that alterations cost me more than the dress...it had to be taken in a size or two, hemmed, and bustle added...but still the dress plus alterations added up to less than any dresses I had been considering before going there. I also loved the aspect of benefiting women in need, and the fact that you get to take your dress home without waiting for it to be ordered and shipped! I highly encourage you to check it out! Also, get ere early so you have plenty of time to look, take pictures, put your dress on hold, go have some lunch while you ponder, look at the pics and decide it is fantastic, and go back and buy it!
FYI, Church Street Couture no longer exists. ALL of the bridal dresses are in the main YWCA building. No need to go down the street!
Te Bee mods asked us to move the thread about the shop. You can find it here now: http://classifieds.weddingbee.com/topic/the-sample-gown-gold-mine
I'm making the 9 hour round trip on the 13th! Hope to see some of you ladies there :)
@NJmeetsBX: Shucks, I must have missed your original post. Have fun and take plenty of pics!
Just came back from an epic adventure quest to Lynchburg today and found my dress! The shop is amazing and full of wonderful dresses and the staff is super friendly! Such a great experience!
ooray! Come over to the thread in classifieds and tell us what you got. The thread over there is more of a discussion than a for sale ad. :)
I'd like to go down on August 27th or September 3rd if anyone is interested . . .

Hey bees! After reading this awesome post, I would like to take the drive down to this place before I decide on my dress. Problem is, I have no nearby relatives/gal pals so I would like some company on the drive from the DC area. Who better than another bride to understand why I would drive roughly 3.5 hours for the hope of snagging a dream gown?!?! Any takers?
I'm flexible but would like to go a weekday to avoid the crowd on Saturday. I'm thinking maybe going down within the next 3 weeks or so.
