I love the whole series of getting ready pictures with all the bridesmaids in matching robes. I want to get my bridesmaids the satin robes as part of their gift. However, we are going to be getting our hair and makeup done at a salon….although we’ll be getting dressed at the hotel. I was thinking of just asking the girls to wear the robe with black yoga pants and a tank top (or whatever they’d like) underneath. Is this stupid? Is it a bad idea?
Can you not have the getting ready robe idea if you’re not having hair and makeup done in a hotel? Are people going to feel weird about wearing these in public?

Honestly, I would feel weird wearing it out to a salon. It would just look random. Why don’t you explain to the girls what you want and have them put the robes on back at the hotel? You could take some cute pictures and then put the dresses on.

@Birdee106: +1. I wouldn’t want to wear a satin robe out in public. I would feel like I was out in my pajamas.

Ask them to take the robes with them to put on at the salon.

@Mata_Hari: What about cute monogrammed button down shirts instead? They would still look really nice in pictures and could be worn to the salon with shorts, pants, or whatever else.

It would be weird to wear at the salon, sorry…but as a PP said, they could wear matching shirts. Or just take a picture in the robes together after hair, before getting dressed (this is what I ended up doing, lol)

I’m super selfconscious and would never wear a robe in public or even at home alone. I would be mortified to the point where I would drop out of a wedding day of if I were expected to wear a robe in public. Tgat may sound extreme but just trying to give you an honest opinion of someone that has issues many don’t think about if they don’t suffer from the same kack of selfconfidence. Know your ladies before you gift something that’s only for a vision you have for your wedding photos, not their personal likes.

I don’t see anything wrong with it. Just have them bring the robes to the salon. Nobody is going to think your crazy if you’re wearing a robe saying “bridesmaid”. They’ll know you’re in a wedding, but thats just me. Maybe a track jacket might be better if you think your girls will feel weird about the robe.

I hate robes & would be like are you seriously making me wear this?! I’d probably put it on for 1 picture them rip it right off!

@Mata_Hari: I think it’s a great idea! It’ll make them feel like pampered princesses and you’ll be the queen! Good luck!

If there’s yoga pants to match them, I think you should go for the happi coats, haori, kimono jacket or whatever they call them (they go by a lot of name, I suppose). They are mostly silken like the satin robe and apparently better-looking in public than the kimono robes, which may make your bridesmaids appear they have just gotten off from bed.
