My fiancé and I are looking to plan a Novembretz 2014 wedding…but we have no idea where! We definitely want our wedding in Rochester. But we are only planning of immediate family – about 35-40 people…help! Any suggestions would be appreciated! We are thinking a small, funky dinner afterward – Good Luck? TRATA?

TRATA could be a great option, they have some pretty flexible space upstairs to accomodate groups.
A couple of other thoughts along the same lines –
Good Luck near Village Gate. They have a smallish room to the left of the bar that can accomodate smaller functions but still spill out into the bar and restaurant area. One of our couples recently used them and were very happy with the result. I’m not sure about capacity, but a quick call would give you a ball park idea.
The Revelry on University Avenue does small parties, another couple we work with did a rehersal party there that was talked about for quite some time.
It’s been a while since we’ve been there, but Tapas on St. Paul has good foodie dining options and a downstairs area that might be nice for a small event.
Good luck with your planning!

@vittoriotux: Sorry, not trying to spam, but also remembered that the Strathallan Hotel on East Ave had a major remodel last year. They have a great space on their 8th floor with a nice city view and a fireplace indoors that is great for smaller gatherings. I haven’t tried their catering since they reopened, but their ground floor restaurant, Char, is pretty nice. Matt, Vittorio Menswear & Tuxedo

@vittoriotux: I just wanted to say thanks for the opinions on nice rehearsal dinner options. We are finding that many of the places we have inquired do not want to reserve a private area for a small party of 15-20 hoping for a large one to book the space and my in-laws don’t want to spend a mint in food & drink minimums. If you have any other suggestions I would greatly appreciate them! My fiance will be checking out your shop when he finally gets his guys together to get their suits!

lah128: Have you considered the Lamberton Conservatory in Highland Park? I would have loved to use it myself, but I believe there is a max or 40 people or so and we have around 100.
Dinner suggestions: The Owl House, Pomodoro, Village Gate restaurants (Salena’s, Gate House).
