I think that's an excellent idea especially since I was planning on doing that myself. Are you making them or buying them? I was going to experiment and see if I could make them.... (well enough ahead of time so if I screw up I can buy them)
That's what I was wanting to do for favors. Great minds think alike.
I love rock candy. I wanted to have these at the reception for coffee. Are you ordering them? If so, where are you getting them?
I had them in green and brown on my candy buffet and they were one of the first things to go. I filled a vase with clear beaded filler and stuck them in like flowers. It was really cute.
I have no idea if this is a reputable site or anything, but this is the cheapest I found so far. I'll probably order them, since they seem to be reasonably priced

Here's another site
I am also debating on rock candy OR a candy buffet. I'm still not totally sure, but when I spoke with my florist she had a GREAT idea on how to display rock candy favors.
She wants to make a ROCK CANDY CHANDELIER. I think she wanted to have wire wrapped around each stick, and have a strands hanging down with multiple rock candy hanging from each wire. It sounds really fun, but I'm interested to see a mock-up :)
Just an idea!
i had a huge bowl of rock candy at my candy buffet! i will post pix when i receive fr. the photog. they were a big hit! *but everything was! hmmmm yum. i love rock candy. i bought fr. bestbuycandy.com and metrocandy.com for most of my candy.
Rock candy is awesome,... I would caution against making them, they are very difficult to cultivate and they are sensitive... if you have time I guess try but don't be disappointed if you have to buy.
Oooh me likes, original idea as well. I thought about a candy buffet too (I've got a real sweet tooth):-) mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
lrwedd and contrarymary - Thanks for posting the links to where we can find them!
This is something I wanted to do as well, so I say go for it! My idea was more to use it within a centerpiece of some sort, though.
As far as making them, I have to agree with @Br1tSh1n1ngStar . . .that stuff is SO HARD to make, and if it does come out, oftentimes, there's not as much as you thought there would be, it tastes slightly moldy (that happened once. . .), or it's really brittle. You're probably better off buying it, to save on some frustration! :)
I love your idea to have rock candy favors! The black bow would be perfect :)
We had rock candy set out on our tables, even though we didn't do a full candy buffet. While I was worried some people wouldn't appreciate it, we had NO leftovers! People loved it! I say go for it.
i adore rock candy, it is pretty, retro, and taste good.
but i have never thought about using in my coffee or tea so i am not sure if your guest will either
I'd appreciate rock candy. In fact, if ppl left theirs at their spots, I'd probably snag it at the end of the reception lol!

Sorry, there are no users yet.
I was thinking of doing a candy buffet, but i'm not sure if I want to put the work into it. I guess I'm just floating ideas around.
So anyways, I was thinking about doing rock candy favors. My colors are black and white so I was thinking white rock candy, wrapping it up in plastic and putting a nice black bow and of course some sort of tag.
The other reason I like the idea is people can stir it into their coffee or tea.
What do you think?
