- Wedding: June 2013 - Country Club
Our 3rd anniversary is on December 4, and sadly for us that falls on a day where we will both be super busy with our classes. We both amazingly have this coming weekend off, and we want to do something sweet. 🙂
We live about an hour away from Birmingham. We’ve looked at ATL, but I think every hotel is booked for this weekend considering the SEC Championship game is on Saturday (ROLL TIDE 😉 ). I wouldn’t mind driving to NOLA, but I have no idea where we should stay if we go there.

Grab a cabin in the Blue Ridge!

@missmorganista: have you looked into Gulf Shores, AL ? You can get a great deal on a beach house/condo from vrbo.com
Also, The Grande Hotel in Pointe Clear, AL is fantastic with lots of good food/ restaurants, close to shopping and also close to Gulf Shores so you can do some touristy things.
I love NOLA, considering its my home state I am always a bit biased, but the closer you close in on the BCS Championship/ Mardi Gras/ New Years … The prices will increase. I suggest staying somewhere generic ( Holiday Inn, Hampton) and possibly in Metarie or Kenner and venturing into the city for sight seeing. I love the aquarium, Harrahs ( if you like casual gambling), French Quarter, maybe catch a Hornets game. There’s so much to do, you couldn’t fit it all in with a weekend!
I also have to tout Nashville– seriously, great city and just a short drive from Birmingham. There’s a ton to do, good food, music, shopping, historical homes to tour. Chattanooga also has a really cool downtown with the Chatanooga Choo Choo ( old train station converted into a really cool hotel) and Lookout Mountain/Ruby Falls are super close for sight seeing. Chatt also has a fantastic aquarium.
Hope this helps give you some ideas! I’ve been to or lived in all of these places, so PM me if you have any questions on specifics!

First things first, ROLL TIDE!
Nola is great. You can usually get a great deal on places in the French Quarter right now. Last time we were there, we stayed at the Hotel St. Pierre and had a great time. http://www.frenchquarterinns.com/hotelstpierre/
Savannah, GA also seems like a really neat place!

My FI’s family owns a cabin in Blue Ridge, GA, we go there on vacation every now and then, it’s where he proposed 🙂 Beautiful, scenic, quant town, about 2 hours north of Atlanta
