Mine was lace and organza, Casablanca 1865. It's drop waist with rouching across the bodice and it really sucked me in at the belly are and gave me a great hourglass.

@djkatyk: Thank you! Your dress is soo pretty! I never would have looked at that dress but it looks amazing on!
I can't think of too many empire waisted ballgowns, I think empire waists tend to be more on a-line or sheath dresses, but I've looked for a lace ballgown myself for several months so below are some ideas. These are from Maggie Sottero, Casablanca, Alfred Angelo and MonCheri. I finally bought an a-line with a natural waist and turned it into somewhat of a ballgown with a crinoline. I'm a very small girl but I think that silhouette is flattering on all body types.

@KLP2010:I LOVE that dress but I saw it was from a couple of years ago so I doubt I will be able to find it. It is gorgeous though!!
@meliss:I love the first dress you pictured... I was just curious how it looks on someone's real body. I have to find an Alfred Angelo store around to try it on.. I am looking for a lace ballgown, but with drama (however I don't like pickups on me) haha I am being picky but I am allowed to be!! haha
Ballgown and Empire are two different sillouettes.
The owner at the shop where I bought my gown said something that really stuck with me. She said a lot of brides make the mistake of trying to hide their flaws rather than trying to accentuate the things about them that make them sensational.
So don't try to hide anything. Try to accentuate you're most beautiful features. You'll be much happier, because no one will notice anything except how gorgeous you are.
@Loribeth:Thanks!! I apperciate that.. I think I am looking for a ballgown but just no dropped waist since I am apple shaped and very petite. I meant I want it to have a natural waist focus.
I think my dress qualifies as a drop waist and I definitely have a pooch lol! I felt so great in my dress! :)
@sarahd07:Girl, you def. don't have a pooch! That dress is very pretty
@sarahd07: Ahhh, I loved your dress when you first posted it and I love it still. SO BEAUTIFUL on you! This was one of my contenders that didn't make the cut and I can't even remember why now...
@cs71904: LOL...if that photo was taken from a different angle you would have seen the pooch!
@meliss: Thanks so much meliss! I LOVE my dress...it was exactly what I wanted!
@cs71904: You're welcome! I'm sure you're going to look incredible in whatever you choose!
it came out a few years ago about ITs still a part oftheir current signature collection and CAn indeed be found. I bought mine about 3 months ago!
@KLP2010:really? I will have to ask around the local shops to see if they carry it. Are those flowers on the skirt? How much did you pay for it if you don't mind me asking?
Mine was not a ballgown, but it was all lace! I really loved how I looked and got lots of compliments on my dress. I am also a size 14 and this dress worked well for me. The dress is Watters 5044B.
Sorry that the pictures are not better, I am still waiting to receive my professional pictures!
@meliss: Do you the designer or style of the last dress pictured in your post?
@Beluga:Very pretty but not what I am looking for. Thank you though!
@Bellebellebella: That's my dress :) Romona Keveza L195. Here's me in it:
@cs71904: I have the Justin, too. I got mine off of Jay's Bridal Online, so if you decide you want it and can't find it in the stores, you could probably still order it from there.
Oops, looks like one of the pics didn't work. Try again!

maggie sottero POPPY.... thats my first place choice right now... just enough lace and bling...
Girls, I found my dress! Sottero and Midgley style Dorothy! It is everything I wanted and more. Thank you all!!

@cs71904: Beautiful! I would love to see pictures of you wearing it. What color did you choose? Your picture is reading as a faint pink/blush color and is just stunning.
I actually didn't try it on! That dress was actually sold already and it was a sample 8 which I am totally not. That is the dress I have always loved so I knew it would be perfect and I ordered it!!
It is ivory over light gold. It is soo pretty and different. In person, it doesnt look pink-thats just my phone. lol
@meliss: What is the name of that last dress? It is GORGEOUS. I'm obsessed.
@cs71904: I want my phone to do that! Still, it's just too fabulous. I love the soft, airy feel of the skirt. It's ultra-feminine without being huge and poufy.
Hahah! Jokes on me I guess - I just looked through my file of gowns I've bookmarked and sure enough, I'd tagged this one previously. What can I say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
@JrzyGurl: Sorry I just saw your post...It's Romona Keveza Legends L195. I'm selling mine on the classifieds.
Here's me in my dress. allure 8756. It's not quite what you're looking for. It's not lace, but it has lace appliqués at the hem & is empire waist, so it's close. I like that it hides my tummy! It's a size 14.

I am having trouble looking for my ideal dress. I am looking for a romantic, lace ballgown. I have tried ballgowns on before and they look good on me because I have a large bust and smaller nautral waist. However, I have a belly so I am trying to hide it. I am looking for more of a empire waist ballgown and I LOVE LACE so either lace on top or on the bottom, anywhere. I live in New Jersey and I can't seem to find vendors that carry certain styles I am interested in. I LOVE Sottero and Midgley's style Dorothy but I haven't found anywhere around here that carries it. Does anyone have any suggestions of dress styles? Did anyone of you find/buy a lace ballgown?
