Quick question for bees who have booked room blocks for their weddings, especially destination weddings – my hotel venue says the room block expires 90 days before the wedding but I think this is VERY early, definitely before my guests have to RSVP to me. Is this standard or is it unusual to release the rooms (and the discounted rate) so soon before the venue?

@Mimms5: For my destination wedding the guests had to put a down payment down to secure the room/flight rates within 60 days of the quote or the price would expire (all inclusive resort). We also got a group rate so this only lasted a certain amount of time and this bookings were done almost a year in advance of the venue date!

@Mimms5: They told us ours was held until 60 days out but be sure to remind your guests as unfortunately for us the resort then booked a conference about 90 days out from our wedding and didnt tell us and they completely booked the hotel and some of our guests still had not booked even though they had rsvp’d yes a while back. Very stressful.
